I was wondering about last years acceptance averages for Mac Life Sci. If you're in the program and don't mind posting your average (mid-term and final) that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is acceptance just that they accept the highest averages first and keep going down the list until they reach the maximum?

If anyone else has any other questions regarding Mac Life Sci, please feel free to post here.

Thanks to anyone who replies!

alot of my friends are in life sci as well. they seem to like it.
agreed, though. mid to high 80s should do it.

the main diff b/w health and life sci is:
life sci: easy to get in, harder to graduate
health sci: hard to get in, easy to graduate

keep in mind life sci is pretty easy to transfer anywhere in the science faculty if you dont like it.
2nd Year Math&Stats at McMaster! Feel free to msg with any questions :)

Thanks for the reply guys.

My first choice is obviously Health Sci but my average as of right now is like 89.83% which isn't a 90 that I need for HSci. So looks like my best bet would be Mac's Life Sci.

Would my average get me in? (All my marks are still going up btw, but I doubt I'd hit 90 with Report Cards in a week and no big tests or assignments)

I am currently studying at mac, 2nd year, did life sci 1st year. Here's my take:

A 89% average should get you in, I had that two years ago. Don't expect early admission though. So keep up the good work! If you have any questions about anything regarding mac, life sci, or university life in general feel free to PM me.

Also, you can switch to B.HSc after first year life sci if you want. (You basically apply again).

I want to say that B.HSc is not easy, although many people get the impression it is. It's just that the people in the program are quite exceptional and handle the work quite well. Some times they get cut a break here and there, but it's nothing major and it's still requires hard work to graduate. In the end it comes down to what you like and what you want to do with your degree.

The actual main different between health sci and life sci is the courses they take and the fact that the health sci class size is much, much smaller.

LJustin, Im in the same boat as you!
My average is like 91 right now but we havent gotten our finally marks back yet so I pretty sure its going to drop down to 89%! :(
Is Mac LifeSci your second choice after HealthSci?
Applied to:

Mcmaster- Honours Health Science I rejected
Mcmaster- LIfe Sciences I ACCEPTED!
Queens- Science ACCEPTED!
UTSG - Life Sciences [Human Biology- Neuroscience] ACCEPTED!
UTM - Life Science [Biology for Health Science] ACCEPTED!

QUEEN'S SCIENCE 2016

It is if I decide to go into sciences. I still haven't chosen Business (accounting) or science yet.

@ particle:

Thanks so much for the reply.

I'm in my first year at McMaster, and I applied to both Life Sciences and Medical Radiation Sciences (although I picked the latter).

I got accepted in February to both programs with an average of 88. Even in my year, there were numerous posts on student awards claiming that the average is undoubtedly getting higher (like someone said, the cutoff would be 90). However, I got accepted with my average so my advice would be: don't worry! If your average is higher than 87, there is a good chance you'll get in.

Like particle said, you're able to apply to health sci after first year in life science. But be warned, you'll need a equally competitive average to get in, and do the admission process (supp. application) again.

Again, like particle said, If anyone has any questions regarding admission, McMaster, life sci, medrad etc then feel free to message. : )

Hi! I am absolutely confused. I received an offer from UTSC for co-op cell and molecular biology and from McMaster Life Sciences I. I am not sure which is a better choice. I did a little bit of research and I found that its very hard to get marks at UFT but it is also good. But then people also say that McMaster is good for sciences. Which one should I choose??? HELPP!!

PS: I need some information on what kind of program life sci is too. I have a general idea that I got from the program brochure and from asking a couple of people but I need some specifics about what type of courses there are and how hard is it? etc... Thank you very much.

Mcmaster needs to put calculus requirement in your admission for Life Science. DO NOT ASK ME WHY? YOU KNOW THE ANSWER.

UTSC is actually much easier than McMaster. The cutoffs for most of their programs are lower than Macs.

Yes I am taking Calculus. I have a 92 in that course.

I have friends with lower who got in (I assume they used their Functions mark).

In regards to checking OUAC, OUAC updates slower than a turtle crawling, and Mac sends an offer of admission via email as well.

Yaaa you`re right. Found it. I dont see they say anything about the condition of my offer. Does it mean my offer is in final stage and i dont have to maintain anything ? Since all my marks are already final?
