So this goes to show that if you're going to do math, go to Waterloo. I didn't expect engsci or any other engineering people to be there, since its not in their field. Also, u of t math and cs isn't that well known. Accepted to: U of T: Computer Engineering (GOING!!!) UWaterloo:Computer Engineering McMaster: Engineering I UWaterloo: Computer Science U of T Computer Science

lots of self-selection in what you observe.
Myron Scholes - Nobel prize winner who was half the team that came up with the iconically famous mathematical model in finance did his undergrad at McMaster.

There's no one from even MIT on there.

There are more grad students (~6,500) at MIT than undergrad (~4,400). If they admit all their undergrads into the grad programs, there would still be room left over. :) Although I don't have systematic evidence of this, but just from observing a couple cases I noticed other than MIT itself, MIT undergrads have a plenty of good options on the East Coast. They've got Harvard down the street, Penn and Columbia just a couple hours train ride away. This is especially case when you are getting into your mid-20s and potentially have put down some roots in Boston. I know it's hard to imagine a Stanford or UC Berkeley having difficulty recruiting students but sometimes geographic roots are that deep. Also, interesting tidbit - the entire MIT undergrad population is smaller than UW's Math enrollment.

I never implied that? What I implied was that the (very) few MIT undergrads who want to study at Stanford for the (very) specific program would probably prefer to stay at MIT/East Coast than travel across the country to Stanford for a similar and similarly prestigious program. It's all just a guess to me, I don't even know anyone who goes to MIT off the top of my head. And yes, as stated above MIT has more grad students than undergrad students. But obviously they have a huge variety of grad students, not just MIT grads. Waterloo Mechanical Engineering '17 Applied: McGill :) :( :( :( Western :) Ivey :( U of T :) :) Waterloo :) :) :)
