Secondly, I would (hopefully) think that most people would agree that Desautels is harder to get into than Rotman's.

Rotman is harder to get in i think...desautels just look at your top 6 averages while rotman takes your personal profile into consideration..

McGill requires a 92/93 average. That's quite high and a large number of people simply cannot make that cutoff. So already you're rejecting a huge chunk of the potential applicant pool.

If you are a student with high marks only, it may be easier to get into McGill than Rotman. But chances are Rotman's not going to reject you if you have a 93+ average anyways (in general). For most people that are in the low-80s to low-90s range, they are going to find it easier to get into Rotman, as they can't get into McGill.

Also, I think you're overestimating Rotman. Yes they are competitive, but they send out a huge number of acceptances. My guess is that they have a fairly high number of students rejecting their offers to go elsewhere. There's not a whole wack of people rejected, especially with high averages.

In addition, many students with high averages are students with great extra curriculars and writing ability. Sure you'll get some who are solely focused on school, but there's plenty of others who are elite applicants anywhere.

I received an early admission offer from McGill Management, Schulich BBA, Ivey AEO, and Queen's Commerce, but was rejected from UofT Commerce, and received an alternate offer to UTM Commerce. Perhaps I wasn't fob enough...

Woah! Well I guess that kinda proved me wrong. I still stand by my opinion that Desautels is harder than Rotman though except in this case. :O

Congratulations to all of you! I have a few questions. Do you guys think that I could still get accepted if my Top 6 average is about a 93-94, but my Grade 11 marks average is only about an 86. One more thing, did any of you not receive the $3,000 and still got accepted?

A 93-94 is definitely competitive for the program. However, you might have to wait until semester 2 midterm to get an offer because of your grade 11 marks.

Your grade 11 marks don't matter, and 93-94 is pretty safe imo.

When you guys reported your marks into Minerva, did you only submit your relevant top 6 grades, or all of your Grade 11 and Grade 12 marks? Did any of you get accepted into McGill and did not get a $3000 scholarship?

Hi, I'm from a non-semestered school, with the exception of Calculus. Does the n/a mark for calculus affect early acceptance? With top 5 including English I have a 94% so I'm wondering if the missing calculus mark is why my application is "Ready for Review"? And if it is, when will McGill receive my calculus mark (Ontario student)?

Thank you in advance!

When i got accepted, Mcgill didnt have my calc mark, but probs because i have completed 6 grade 12 courses after sememter 1 (with english). If your grade 11 marks are very strong, then i dont think mcgill needs to see your calc mark. With that being said, early acceptances for ontario students end next friday, so if you didnt hear back from them by then, you'll be given an admission decision in May. Also, Mcgill receives your calc mark from the OUAC sometime in late April/early Mayish..

Hey, I am an Ontario student who wishes to study at Desautels BCom. I want to become a Chartered Accountant, but is it possible that I could take the Major in Accounting at Desautels and then pursue a CA designation in Ontario? Thanks.

Should be possible but I have not done any research into that (accounting doesn't interest me). This might be a useful page: http://www.mcgill.ca/des...einfo/majors/accounting
Otherwise I suggest contacting the McGill BComm Office.

@rothstein18, you can pursue the CA designation almost anywhere because it doesn't matter where you get it since its a standardized test. However if you're interested, McGill does offer the CA designation with the degree, it does require you to stay and extra year I think and you'll be doing your classes on the 3rd floor of Bronfman (where the MBAs are).

With the ICAO, they make a big deal out of the "accredited programs" (such as Queen's, Schulich, Rotman) in Ontario that have "51 credit hours" which you would need in order to be eligible to write the CA exams. I am wondering, does Desautels have that? Like, if I pursue the Major in Accounting or something else offered, is it possible for me to be able to work for two years then write the exams, like the universities in Ontario say with their accredited programs?

Thanks
