Got an alternate offer from Guelph today for Biological Science.....Very weird. My top 6 is 92.1(incl their pre req's) and surprisingly that seems to be not enough for Guelph Biomedical !

Wonder what's Western's cut off is going to be?

aquarius, what does your status say when you log into WebAdvisor? cuz mine says 'application received' for biomed, and 'admitted' for biological.

Just says Admitted To Alternate Offer :Biological Science
They probably have lots of high 90+ applicants this year. Was definately my first choice until I visited Ottawa!!!

I applied to animal biology, because I figured at the time it was a relatively general course. Lately I've herd it is pretty competitive. Will Guelph send me an alternate offer of admission if I don't get in? (it's not even the program I want anymore. Note the biology mark lol.) or should I change my selections on ouac?

These are my grades if it helps....
My grade 12 marks are: English 82, Functions 80, Biology 74
My grade 11 marks are: American History 77, Chemistry 88
And I'm taking Chemistry, Calculus, and World History this semester

I really hate to be the one breaking this to you, but they only sent alternative offer, for Criminal Justice and Public Policy which is BA regular, Bio med which is biological Sci and Co-op which is non co-op. But with your marks I would not be too worried colors

I got an alternate offer for biological sciences... does this mean I am no longer being considered for bio-med? Cuz as of now Guelph doesnt even have my top 6, since mid-terms don't come in until the end of April =/

I'm pretty sure Guelph only gives you one offer. That being said however, my friends is in also applying to Bio Med and ask the Science people that you can transfer/apply to Bio med from any B.Sc. major if you finish the year off with a >70% average first year. Decision are made in June apparently. It also pretty competitive because you are facing off against Bio-med students with < 75% averages and other science majors. But if you work hard enough in first year you should be fine. Hope to see you in September.

Good Luck!!!

I may be wrong, but on the March eNewsletter-Admission Update and Frequently Asked Questions, it says

What does it mean if I’ve received an offer to an alternate program?

It means that at the present time, we are not able to extend an offer to your first choice program or Co-op stream of your program. You are, however, admissible to the alternate or regular stream – Congratulations! We will continue to consider you for your first choice as additional grade data becomes available until the end of May.

so i think that means if your additional grade data is good enough for biomed, you can be accepted in it even after being accepted into biological sciences

Good to know. Would they still the original choice if you reject their alternate offer?

They sent me an email on my Guelph Email account. I'm still waiting to receive my offer letter in the mail. I'm currently residing out of Canada, so it's going to take a while, sadly.

Congratulations on the acceptances, everyone!

Congratulations! :)
You have a Guelph email account?? I tried to track my admission status, but I could not get to the page that would allow that, and when I asked Admissions about it, they said that they don't give applicants email accounts and that I am not permitted to use WebAdvisor. :/

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get your account, and how did you get to the place where you get the offer information?
Applied To:
Guelph: Arts & Sciences - Admitted (May 16th 2012)
Waterloo: Health Studies: Pre-Health Professions - Admitted (May 4th 2012)
Carleton: Honours Arts: Biology - Admitted (Jan. 10th 2012)
Waterloo: Honours Arts: English - Admitted (Jan. 16th 2012)
UOttawa: Health Sciences - Admitted (Feb. 28th 2012)
UOttawa: Nursing - Admitted (Feb. 28th 2012)
Now to decide where to go!

well you get an account once they've acknowledged your application and they'll send you an email with your U of G email details in it. then just log in to webadvisor with the same username and password as your email! they'll only reply to emails send from that email account and important emails (like an offer or sth lol) will only be sent to that account :)
