That would be an example of you eating your words, but thankfully karma isn't usually that straightforward. I've been having similar thoughts about the level of competition :). In my interview I am going to portray an artistically inclined young man, with dreams, a vision to guide them, and an attitude that is positive and well-rounded to an extreme degree. I might just re-read my AIF a few times to get a better feel for the character (:P). **Shields** Accepted: University of Toronto: Social Sciences + Vic One (Pearson Stream) Carleton University: Honours Science University of British Columbia: Arts

Good luck with McGill Architecture krankd! If anything, you can reapply to Waterloo next year. And that's what I keep telling myself too.
I'm probably going to wear something more formal. A shirt, and trousers? Then flats or heels. It feels weird though, cause it's an "art" program, and I'm not sure if it's better to just look laid back...
andrewkenny: that's a good idea! To /portray/ someone, as if you're just acting. Gosh I just hate interviews in general. Was never good at them, and never will be.
OOO also one more question: if we're doing our precis first, do we still bring our portfolio in? How are you guys formatting yours? Would it be ok to simply have everything in cardboard boxes with our name on it??

I personally think im going to go dressed a in nice jeans, heels, a colourful shirt and a blazer. very me :) after all, it is an interview just to get to know us. I don't mind interviews, just the waiting is the hardest part. @alexandrasiu - boxes? im not sure what you mean by that, but im bringing in mine in a canvas bag. im not putting my pieces in a book or anything. how are you guys going into the interview? are we supposed to just start - and keep talking until they ask us questions??? or are we supposed to wait for their lead?? im afraid getting started will be awkward - but once im talking i think ill be comfortable - how many pieces do you guys have again?? and what mediums? ive got 10, should i do more??? thanks guys. i really hope the six (or so) of us get in lol! obviously were all dedicated, checking this forum 1000-or-something crazy times haha ;) WATERLOO ARCHITECTURE 2017

Thanks alexandrasiu! @Chelseaaa, I don't see why someone would be disadvantaged by applying next year, I might actually do that next year if i don't get into any programs... I'll have some more time to work on a portfolio, and my english mark should be above 80 :P I think they would treat me like any other grade 12er that's applying for their program. Either that or it's just me holding onto a false hope haha Good luck with your interviews though! University of Waterloo Civil Engineering 2017

^krankd, check out the McGill Arch Thread! :-)
and there's a lot of people reapplying... and also reapplying after they reapplied...people have a lot of perseverance!
chelsea: okay, I think I'll go out to get a portfolio bag/holder. and I hope you're right! Good luck to all of us. I just don't want to be too optimistic cause it'll make the rejection in the end more dramatic for me. AH

lol...I used to have Deviantart but it's filled with old stuff from way back when I was all obsessed with retracing my work digitally and maintaining a "style", so much so that after a while I wasn't really improving all that much. I am a non-Asian male of the Caucasian variety. I love Art but when I don't have something directing my work it tends to take on a "look at me" kind of attitude. Architecture seems like a really good fit for me since it's also functional and involves a great deal of communication. I have a Picasa web album of some of my work if anyone wants to see, I can PM it to them (in exchange for a glimpse at their own work, of course :P). **Shields** Accepted: University of Toronto: Social Sciences + Vic One (Pearson Stream) Carleton University: Honours Science University of British Columbia: Arts
