I'm accepted to U of Montreal!! Just a question, if theres something I want to do on the weekend like go and shop or whatever, is that allowed? I was wondering how strict they are on this because I want to do things and see the city also.

I'm going to Trois-Rivières for the spring session!! I'm so excited! :D
So no one else got an e-mail confirmation, right? I only found out about my application status through the Explore website, but I haven't received any additional information.

I got into trois riviers for summer :D but my friend got wait-listed :( I'm very excited for it, however I haven't taken french since grade 9. Am I going to be a lonely loser there because my french is not good enough to communicate with people around? Anyone with previous experience please let me know.

@whipmyhair: You won't feel like a loser haha. There will be tons of people going exactly like you and tons more people way above you. You'll find that the monitors are really forgiving if you speak fringlish and you should probably be able to make friends before you're only aloud to speak in french. Also, if you're shy you'll find that since you're speaking in french its really difficult to see who's actually shy because almost everyone that is at a beginner level is nervous to speak :P, at least for the first couple weeks. Afterwards you should be able to understand almost everyones basic french. My friend came with me last time without and french and he's able to talk and listen pretty well.but... I'm wait listed too T.T... i hope your friend gets in with you!

@figureskate: chicoutimi is about 2-3 hours north of quebec city. To get there you can either fly to quebec city and then take the bus or you can fly to jonquiere which is the next town over approximately half an hour away and take the bus from there. Bus from quebec city is about $80 round trip for students but you might want to check to see which one is cheaper. Quebec city was for me.

ps) I went to jonquiere so if anyone is going there or just wants to know general things feel free to give me a message and ill tell you all about it. For a low cost... ;)

lol~got into TR summer as well~~I only took several French beginner's courses few years ago and have forgot almost everything by now....The program has different classes for people with different proficiency levels in French, so I dont think we will be lonely losers....But it's still a good idea to brush up on some basic french before the program starts~~:PPP

Congrats to everyone who got in, that's awesome!!! :)

For those like me on the waitlist, I got this response from one of the coordinators in case you're wondering:

Bursary recipients have 10 business days to respond to the initial draw. If they decline, we will do a subsequent draw to replace them. These draws usually occur twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So, the first wait list draw will most likely happen this Thursday. Then, we will continue to hold draws throughout the spring and summer to replace bursary recipients who decide not to participate in the Explore Program.

So please if you aren't going to be accepting the offer, decline it ASAP! It would mean a lot to us on the waitlist. :)

Anyways, I hope everyone has a good time!
