Hey! I got my acceptance to Carleton in Linguistics on the 13th. Has anyone else been accepted to Carleton yet? Anyone have any idea as to what to expect?

I got early acceptance in December for their journalism program and I just accepted the offer yesterday. Have you visited the school yet? It seems quite nice. A lot of opportunities in Ottawa I think! I don't know much about linguistics at Carleton though.

Hey. I've actually been to the school twice, once for a "Parent's Night" (telling the parents how to help their kids apply) and once for a March Break Program day. It is a really nice school. I'm going to be in Res; I've already completed the questions and everything. I'm hoping to be in the International Global Community in Prescott (suite-style res)or in a traditional single.
There are a lot of opportunities in Ottawa. I've lived in and around the city my entire life. Now, though, I live too far to commute. Are you going to live in Residence?
Linguistics isn't, as most people believe, studying languages. It's actually the study of how languages work, how they're used and how they change. It's pretty fascinating. Here's the link to the Carleton page for the School of Linguistics and Language Studies: http://www1.carleton.ca/slals/
I actually applied initially to Journalism, but since I'm homeschooled and had to write SATs, I guess the school didn't think I would be a good match. But, I'm very happy to have been accepted into Linguistics. I'm going to have a blast!

I got accepted into the English Co-op program. Not sure if I'm going yet but I applied for a Prestige scholarship. They said they would inform receipients in mid-April...anyone heard anything?

Hello, I was accepted into Carleton's BPAPM program specializing in international studies. My average is around 90% was also given a $12 000 scholarship over 4 years. I am really excited and have already accepted my offer! Looks like a great school.

I also filled out my residence application, I'm coming from the GTA so it's really my only option. Linguistics definitely sounds like it'd be interesting I was one of those people who thought it was studying languages haha! I'm really excited to be attending Carleton especially with the new River Building that's opened and the new residence (Which I'm hoping to live in although my I'm not getting my hopes up) I am a little worried about roommates and living so far from home as well as keeping my marks high enough to move on to second year journalism but I'm keeping my mind open. I'm really excited to meet new people and live in Ottawa, it's such a beautiful city.

I also applied to the prestige scholarships but I haven't heard anything back either, I'm hoping they wait until midterms get sent to OUAC next week because my average is much higher now haha.

I live near Carleton, and I have been there on tour before, and it is a beautiful campus/ school. I am very excited to be attending here next year! Also, congrats guys on your acceptances! I hear a lot of good things about most of the programs and feel like this will be the best place for me to develop my skills and get a great education. I got accepted for a Science degree (Integrated Science with Forensics-Honours), so I can't really comment on non-science stuff there, but anyways! And Ottawa really is a lovely city- there are lots of different things to see and I like the museums/ history of the city!

I applied to Journalism (first choice) and BA in Law (2nd choice). For the past month my Carleton Central has said that the decision for Journalism is pending. Clearly they are waiting for my midterms which will get to them later this week.

My second choice (Law) has said "Eligible for Admission" for over a month, meaning that I will be offered it if I don't get into
Journalism.

I checked again today and it still says Journalism is pending, but now my Law application says:

Application Status: Decision Made
Decision: Decision Pending

(?) How can it be "made" and "pending" at the same time?
More importantly, why would it say this when it previously said "Eligible for Admission" for over a month? Am I no longer eligible for admission?

My midterms haven't even been submitted yet so I have no idea why anything would change, in any regard.

Does anyone have a clue what this means?

I have a 90.4 average so this is stumping me.

The part saying "Application Status: Decision Made" is Carleton saying that they have made their decision on whether you are accepted to that program or not. The "Decision" part is YOUR part. When you accept/decline, it states that decision here. This is my section:
Application Status: Decision Made
Decision: Applicant Acceptance (as I have accepted my offer)
By yours saying "Pending", it's waiting for you!

I'm not sure about the fact that you have 2 different programs (as I only applied for one at Carleton), but that is what this part means.

Like I said, I'm not really all that sure about the process for two applications, but they certainly should be sending out a letter or an email very soon if you were accepted. And OUAC does sometimes take a few days to update- also, they usually only update offers of admission between 2 and 3 a.m. every morning. And I have to agree with you- the whole process is rather annoying :) Anyways, you do have lots of time(well, until June 1st, anyways) to make the decision (officially), when everything is sorted out. And I am really sorry if I am not answering your question the right way. If I am not really helping you (and I won't be offended if you think I am not being very helpful), it can never hurt just to email the admissions office to ask them what's going on. Anytime I've had a question, I always get an answer in about two days, and the answers are very helpful (normally anyways).

Hey guys!!

I still haven't 100% decided where I'm going, but Carleton is definitely a strong contender. I got accepted to Honours Arts: Cognitive Science: Biological Foundations of Cognition, and right now I have about a 91% so I got the $12,000/4 years scholarship.

I've applied for a Prestige Scholarship at Carleton, and if I get one, then will probably go there! :) But I haven't heard anything yet either. I don't really think I'll get one, but I'm still trying to hope for the best :)

Hope all goes well with you guys!!
Applied To:
Guelph: Arts & Sciences - Admitted (May 16th 2012)
Waterloo: Health Studies: Pre-Health Professions - Admitted (May 4th 2012)
Carleton: Honours Arts: Biology - Admitted (Jan. 10th 2012)
Waterloo: Honours Arts: English - Admitted (Jan. 16th 2012)
UOttawa: Health Sciences - Admitted (Feb. 28th 2012)
UOttawa: Nursing - Admitted (Feb. 28th 2012)
Now to decide where to go!

Hey guys!

Is anybody going to Carleton for the Neuroscience and Mental Health program? It's one of my top choices so I was wondering if anybody else was considering it as well.

Oh yay another journalism student!!! :D I'm sure you'll be accepted, at the time of my acceptance in December I only had an 89%. As for the eligible offers they can only offer you one program at a time if I remember correctly. I also only applied for one program so I'm not positive! Since you ranked journalism first they know to make you an offer but they're letting you know if not then you are able to get in the law program. To be honest I would call or email the admissions office and have them explain the elligible offers and the change made in your Carleton central. Also ask about the journalism because I'm sure they're just waiting for midterms. Just to be safe, I'd call. Good luck, hope to see you in Journalism :)

Hey all! I am a student from BC coming into Ontario for my post-secondary education. After Carleton received all my transcripts (interim secondary school and final UVIC one) on Tuesday, I received word that I got accepted on Wednesday, and a formal notification yesterday morning. I'm not sure whether I will accept the offer (have to go through the pros and cons of each of my desired schools), but I am very excited to have gotten in!
