ANIMATION! I posted this up in another forum as well(sorry >.<). It's something I really wanna do and trying to pursue but...what school is good for that? My teacher told me max the mutt but from what I'm hearing from others is that it blows... I'm really trying my best for CalArts in California but any school is Canada for the time being? I hear Sherdian is good but that's all. Anyone else pursuing animation? whether 2D of 3D? I can't be the only one T.T I also wanna hear your thoughts about animation =) #1 Goal : Calarts!

hi! I am looking to pursue animation but I did not get into sheridan this year! I will be going to art fundamentals and I personally think sheridan is a really great school for such a program but I've heard great things about ringling and Calarts. Both are really expensive though haha. I've avoided max the mutt as much as I can because its a really sketchy school and don't get me wrong they teach students very well, but they seem to accept anyone! If you live in canada I say sheridan but then again, thats just personal preference. Good luck with your choice :) APPLYING TO: College: APPLIED Sheridan College- Animation

SHERIDAN! I don't know if you guys saw this but on Global news last night at 11 they were showing students work from Sheridan and people/business from the animation industry coming to see their work! It was amazing!! I am so excited >.< To get into Sheridan for their bachelor arts - animation program is full but I'm going to start working on my application for next year! Actually I'm kinda confused on how applying there works. It seems like you have to apply to their bachelor of arts-animation program first, then their computer animation program and then the digital character animation program. Is that right? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong T.T #1 Goal : Calarts!

Sheridan's animation program is THE CREAM OF THE CROP in Canada. As you've read, a lot of executives come and visit the place monthly, lot's of scouting opportunities + networking! It's also one of the hardest animation program to get into in North America. I have a friend who's in his 3rd year, he continuously tells me how intensive the program is , they draw so much every day, lots of late night drawing -it's quite tiring for him but he loves it! When you audition/get your portfolio reviewed make sure your sketchbook is FULL and has lots and lots of study of the human anatomy and movement. Yes you apply directly to the BAA directly, and then they'll help you from their, I believe what you're talking about are different streams and not programs. (that comes in later)

I found this article about the Top 100 Schools for Animation, Gaming, and Design the other day, I thought it was a very interesting read. I live in Ontario and I wanted to apply someplace near home. Sheridan, Seneca and Centennial were the places I wanted to go to. I applied to Max the Mutt as well and just like you, my teacher did say that I should definitely check them but their reviews are just so mixed that I've been deterred entirely despite being accepted.. I also ended up being accepted to Sheridan and I insta-accepted. I'm super looking forward to next school year. <3

Thank you so much! >.< I can only imagine how much drawing they must do but it must be so much fun and WORTH it!!! Did you wanted to go there? Bou thanks for that article, I'm actually checking it out right now as I write this. Can I just say how EXTREMELY LUCKY you are to be going there!! Any tips on portfolio submissions that wasn't said before? What's your guys opinion on VanArts 2D/3D animation program? I heard they're having a Pixar master class event on July.27. I wouldn't suggest going to the U.S. for school since you'd be considered an international student and the tuition fees would be ridiculous. Sheridan animation is the way to go in Canada! (: I heard OCAD and Emily Carr both had programs, but neither compare with Sheridan. I agree that it's hard to get into, but that's why you take art fundamentals to develop your skills. That program also help you create a portfolio tailored for animation. Student at Sheridan College for Illustration. Visit me HERE.
