yea guess they need to see an English mark before proceeding.

yep, i had it last semester.

The thing is, i see you already got into Rotman, why would you even care about desautels, rotman is apparently better than it.

From what I've researched Rotman is not all that impressive if you don't want to go into accounting. McGill also seems to have a better rep internationally, and its investment management program looks very good!

You will be able to study English in your first year at McGill, just not be able to call your major until second year. You are just the first year program that every Freshman in the arts have to go through. Actually, with all the of the universities you have applied to, you don't jump into your English major right away.

I got into Arts and Science at Mcgill a month ago.
And yesterday, I just got into Life Science. My average was only a 92 though :/ so I was confused as to how I got in with the comparatively low average.

And I'm from Ontario.

You got into Mcgill's life science? I have a 93% average and still haven't heard from them. :(

Has anyone from BC been accepted recently?

@jingjinglan,

Congrats! You are from Ontario and you heard from McGill on April 25???!!!! I thought we had to wait until May? Did your status change from Ready for Review into something else, prior to your acceptance? Did you have any idea they were deciding when they did? Now I'm freaking out. I need to hear NOW whether I"m accepted for Arts. Enough already! This process takes forever! I've been waiting since Christmas.

I have 90.3 and applied to McGill Arts as my first choice. It's all I want.

McGill is my first choice too!! My current status is "Reviewed - Decision Pending" and according to their website, offers for Ontario high school students are between May 1 - May 18. I'm a transfer student and apparently we don't hear back until later in the summer so don't worry too much!

Wow, Explorer... I can't imagine waiting that long. Where are you trying to transfer from?
When did you actually apply to McGill?

Do you think the riots and chaos are going to deter people from applying and help our chances (*snicker*)

How many more seconds are there until May 1st? Let me google.... apparently 263, 157 seconds for me to wait... MINIMUM. LOL.

Count with me?

Haha, I know....the wait is killing me! I'm trying to stay calm and try to keep it cool though. I'm trying to transferring from UofT and I applied at the end of November. When did you apply?

OMG - I was actually hoping for the same thing!!! (Muahaha)

Woah! So. Many. Seconds. LOL!!

Fingers crossed for the both of us!!

Yes. I thought I had to wait awhile too but it seems that I have been admitted. It was Ready For Review and then the next time I checked, it was "Admitted Pending Final Results"

@differentusername I don't know why I heard back from them early tbh I didn't know I was accepted until I got an email saying I can access my decision at Minerva, like the one I got for Arts & Science a few months ago.

thank you! Not many people know that Penn is an Ivy League and I keep getting "Congrats on Penn State!" :P

I'm going to have to decline all my offers soon...

In Canada, I was going to go to Queen's Commerce, which was where I was going to go if I didn't get into Penn. My dad actually forbade me from going to McGill because he doesn't like the school haha but I applied anyway :P

I checked the statistics on the McGill website about the amount of applicants vs individuals enrolled in a program, and McGill Arts & Sci has an acceptance rate just under 7%, which worries me A LOT

I have a 90 on the dot for McGill, and I applied to their Arts and Arts & Science programs. The cutoffs from the 2011 year were 86.8% for Arts and 88.5% for Arts & Science. Do I have a shot?

Beatles58, I'm pretty sure the acceptance rate is MUCH higher than 7% because if you're taking (# of student enrolled)/(# of applicants) you're forgetting that most schools have to account for the fact that not every student they accept is going to go there. Even the Ivy League schools only have yield rates of ~60-75%. So don't worry about your 90%, I think you'd get in, considering the cut off rates for the previous years.

Wow, thank you so much. I'm so tired that I calculated the number properly, but using the wrong figures tongue

http://www.mcgill.ca/es/admissions-profile

I mistook 'Number of Registered Students' for 'Amount of Admission Offers', and did the calculation that way.
