I would like to say "THANK YOU" to Professor Logel at the University of Waterloo. She is an awesome teacher. Her Introduction to Psychology class was exciting, fun, fascinating, organized, and educational. Continually, she incorporated students into her lessons with experiments, discussions, surveys, and more. I loved her class and so many others did too. Also, she has become a great mentor to me. Professor Logel has introduced me to new experiences and opportunities I never really considered. Conversing with her, I am reminded that everyone is capable of great things. I feel blessed to have met her and I would just like to thank her for making my first year an incredibly memorable one! :D

I want to thank a past teacher of mine; Mr. Finkle. He taught me that I can achieve my goals and that I should believe in myself. He will always be a role model to me, and he is the most inspirational person in my life. Its because of him that I chose to follow my dreams instead of trying to be someone I'm not. So thank you Mr. Finkle, for everything.

I'd like to extend a personal and heartfelt thank you to Mr. Duncan McGregor. This a long overdue thanks, as I'm now in 3rd year university, but when I was in high school, Duncan helped me in so many ways. He introduced me to just about every subject I am passionate about now, teaching my classes on Media, Psychology, and Philosophy.

I also went through a lot of personal emotional trouble during that time, and Mr. McGregor was always patient, understanding, and insightful, always being able to tell when I had something troubling me that I didn't want to talk about. I probably talked to him more than I did our actual school counselor, and is one of the few teachers I had whom I consider a genuine friend, even today.

In addition, he also proffered unto me the greatest gift I've received, in helping me to craft my initial enthusiasm for writing, through constructive criticism and support, into a unique and focused authorial voice. I've since put it to good use in numerous contexts, having great success in academic essays, individual writing projects, and in both applying for jobs and producing high-quality written content for them. More than that, he helped develop faith in my own abilities, and the fact that the limitations on how much they grew were ultimately mine to decide.

A large part of who I am as a person is owed to Duncan, and I've taken far too long to say so. He is the type of teacher every troubled, unsure teenager trying to find their place, personally and academically, should hope to have.

Thanks, McG. :)

I'd like to say a thank you to my english teacher, Mr. Evans. During this year I've been living in a group home that demands all of my attention with meetings, social workers, programs and staff so that I've almost been failing at everything because I either never had time to complete my work or was never able to do it because I never understood. Mr. Evans was the teacher that stayed late after school with me to help me with the assignments and he's the one that always let me hand in my assignments late because my group home apparently doesn't believe in school work. Mr. Evans taught me how to understand Hamlet, to read Shakespeare and actually like it! He taught me how to write properly and expand my vocabulary while talking but most important of all is that he taught me that I can trust people again because there are some nice people out there! I may not be the best at english but I'm a lot better than I was at the beginning of this year! Thank you Mr. Evans I know I'll never forget you and maybe you'll inspire me somewhere down the road to go out of my way for someone else.

I want to give an huge shout out to my Communications Technology teacher, Stephen Payne. He is one of the reasons that I became so interested in Television and Film, and now I'm going to be able to study it in university! He has taught me so much in the past three years and I couldn't ask for a more helpful, knowledgeable and all around awesome educator. Having experience in the television and film industry for over 16 years, he brings real-life knowledge and situations into the classroom and blends it well into the curriculum. He treated us like adults in his classroom, and together my classmates and I acted like a real cast and crew when we created projects such as a live television studio production, a short film, and countless music videos and commercials. He is definitely a huge inspiration to me and I'm confident he embodies a First Class Educator.

I would like to thank my grade 12 advanced functions teacher, Mr. Gekiere. I had his class last semester, along with grade 12 university level Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It was a difficult semester, and seeing as I didn't have the proper pre-requisite for MHF4U, I struggled in his class. I had never failed a test, as long as I could remember, and by the end of the semester I had 6 math tests to rewrite for 50%. It was really hard for me since I was used to doing well in math without much effort, and now I was trying my best and barely improving. With help from the teacher and some last minute tutoring, I pulled off a 60% on the exam and a 54% in the class. But by the end, the marks didn't matter; Mr. Gekiere taught me was that failure isn't as horrible as it feels. Partway through the course my friend dropped out, she was busy with work and it was just too much for her. We had the same classes and it was tempting for me to do the same, it would've gotten rid of so much stress. But I stayed in the class and I'm very glad I did. My teacher made me realize that even though I wasn't doing well, I was learning something much more important. I was learning first hand how it felt to fail, how to deal with constantly being disappointed, and how to keep at something that seemed impossible. Doing badly in that class prepared me for not just the challenges that post-secondary school will bring, but for many things in life, and without my teacher I would have given up and missed it altogether.

Thank you so much, Mr. Gekiere!

Throughout my high school, I've been one of those students who had the top grades in every class. I worked hard for my grades, balancing school and a very demanding sport. Next year I'm heading to university for the first time; this year, my grade twelve, has been the toughest year yet, which is understandable. However, I'd slave away many weeks at a time, stressing out to the point where my head was shedding chunks of hair, my acne was acting up, the dark circles under my eyes deepened and my body was in a constant state of exaustion. I was trying to cram too many things in too little time, never taking a day off, or time to relax.
It was very apparent to one of my teachers what was happening to me.
Everyday and sometimes several times a day, my physics teacher, Eric Létourneau, would tell me to stop stressing out.
One morning, when I went to see him for extra help, he told me:
One day you will blow up. Whether it's this year, or the next, or the year after, you will melt down. You need to relax more, take one day off a week, that's what I did in university. Next year, you won't be getting 90s in all your classes, if any at all. You will fail tests completly, you will have sleepless nights, you won't be able to do every project assigned. It happened to me, it'll happen to you. I've failed many test, I've had moments when I couldn't do anything to help my grades, but look where I am today. I'm happy, I have a job I love, a wife and kids I love too. You need to understand that when all that happens, not to give up. Even if you fail, doesn't mean you're a bad person, doesn't mean it's the end, it doesn't define the person you are. You will still be you and that's what matters. You will still be Alexa. You'll just have to move on. Keep smiling. It's the best medicine.

I can't remember if I cried that day, but everytime I recall it, tears spring to my eyes. What he said was true, although I never realised it before that moment. Now whenever I'm having a hard time, I think of what he said. I'm still me. I'll work as hard as I can, I'll push to attein my highest potencial, but if I fail, if I don't get the mark I wanted, or win the medal I wanted in my sport, I cry a bit then I think "I'm still me. I just need to get up and try again". It's sometimes difficult to get rid of the feeling of failure, but I'm still intact, that's all that matters. I keep smiling. :)

Thank you, M. Létourneau. You may not know it, but you changed my life for the better. Thank you so much.

I would like to thank my Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors teacher Mr. Sarkissian. He was also my teacher for Grade 11 Functions last year. I really like his teaching style and being in his class made me improve my math skills. His method of often giving out handouts, charts, and practice problems is very helpful and made it easier for us students to study. His practice problem questions are very challenging and therefore if you answered it, you will have the confidence that you could answer other problems. If we do well on our tests, he writes compliments and this makes me feel that he appreciates the hard work that we have done. It inspires me to work harder.

Again, thank you very much Mr. Sarkissian. YOU ARE THE BEST!! cheers

My elementary school teacher, Miss Anderson, inspired me to become the open and strong person I am today. Not only did she make subjects come alive and introduce me to the wonderful world of theatre, but she taught me that it is okay to show weakness and trust people. She helped me open up and get help for the hardships that I went through. I can now help others and help myself, because of her. Thank you, Miss Anderson, for teaching me that it's okay not to be okay.

I wanted to say thank you to Mr. Richards. He was the first teacher to take interest in my basketball skills. He taught me how to play basketball, and I eventually recieved most valueable player for 2 years after his help because of my hard work and dedication. His encouragement and support led me to join a competitive team. Unfortuantly, Mr. Richards was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and passed away about 3 years ago. My competitive team dedicated our season in his honour. I will never forget how much he helped me improve my skills and boost my confidence. Next year once I enter post-secondary school, I plan on trying out for the university team because of him. Without Mr. Richards, I would have never achieved the things I have throughout my highschool career! Thank you Mr. Richards, I will never forgot your kindness!

Ms. corsbi

She is my gym teacher, my wrestling/field hockey/track coach. She has taught me how to be competitive yet have good sportsmanship at the same time. she has taught me that wining is always favorable, but the most important thing
(in high school sports at least) is giving every one a fair shot, and having fun. Well she may yell when coaching us on the field, we all know she dose it for the best and she really helps us. Whether it is telling us to move to open space or to get are buts in the game and start running. I really appreciate all the extra time she spends weather its watching us/teaching us new skills or setting up game times tournaments for us. She is my favorite teacher, and i know i don't say thank you to her as much as i should, for all that she dose for me and for the school, thank you!cheese

I would love to say "Thank you" to my English teacher, Mr. Mann. With my senior year in highschool almost finished, I am ready to go to university and I feel more than ready.

Mr. Mann has inspired me throughout highschool to be more involved within my own school and to always try my hardest in everything I try. He has helped me realize my future and that it is bright and strong.

Thanks Mr. Mann for a great four years, I will miss you and my school !

I would like to give Thanks to my music teacher Mrs Gillard.
I have attended CRSS for three years and in grade 9 was a handful. I was struggling with many things in that year and made the decision to drop music because I was lazy and ignorant. Mrs Gillard never took it personally. Later on in my high school career I took up guitar and vocals again and she never held a grudge for the way I acted, if anything, she was more accepting. But she is not an easy teacher, she makes us work and don't allow us to slack but is also very understanding and puts herself on the same level as her students and is not one of those “ Bow down to me, I am in control here” kind of teachers, she takes a great interest in our lives. She is very much a friend and a mentor to all her students and does not feed you BS when you ask for advice. She spends countless hours running guitar ensemble, choir, concerts and many other things she does not have to do.
I thank you Mrs Gillard for all the time and effort you put towards every one of your students and are school :)

I want to say Thank you to my teacher Ms.Maier. She made the biggest impact on me in forming who I am today. She taught me English in Grade 9 and Native Studies in grade 10-11. She made the biggest impact on me because she made me feel more proud of who I am as an aboriginal person. She would use a lot of aboriginal usage in her class and it made me feel like I belonged more. Considering there are only a few first nations students out of 1400 students at my school. She also was caring and kind and intelligent. I always had something to learn from her, and always looked forward to her class. She made the 4 years of high school a lot easier to handle. She made me a more confident and studious person. She made me want to be a better person and beat the stereo-types of my culture. She made me a stronger person. She helped shape the person I am today. And I don't know how else I could thank her, there's not enough things to do or say that would be enough to tell her how much I appreciate all that she's done for me, and this is one way to start. Thank you Ms.Maier. :)

I'm very grateful for all the teachers that helped me through my four years at Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute. They helped me become more mature and more responsible.

Special thanks to my biology 3U and 4U teacher, Mr. Li. He is a good instructor and I liked his classes even though I fell asleep in some days. Sorry! He is funny and I learned a lot - not only the curriculum lessons but also extra knowledge that we might need in the future. I remember during gr 12 bio last semester that he'd give a few minutes in most class days to talk about reality and life at university. It helped a lot. Thanks Mr. Li! :)

I'd also like to thank Mr. B, who was my Physics 12 night school teacher at Albert Campbell CI. Even though I dropped the course halfway the semester, I learned a lot from him. To make the classes more interesting, he'd make witty jokes related to physics. He'd also tell interesting facts about the world and tell stories of his travelling around the globe. I know I am ready for university (and also excited!) because he prepared me for it. I really liked the class and I regretted dropping it. No worries, I'm learning it at my own pace. Thanks again!

Thank you very much!

I would like to say thank you to my elementary and junior high gym teacher Mr. Brian. He not only was my gym teacher for over 6 years, but also my volley-ball coach, but most importantly my friend. He made me into the person I am today and pushed me to achieve my goals. He was one of the best coaches around and without him I would not have been able to lead my team as co-captain throughout our seasons. In the hall ways, one would swear that we were friends and not my teacher. He was a truly awesome guy and I really miss him. All my friends and I really bonded with him and they agree that he changed our lives. I can not thank him enough for everything that he has done; from making me work harder as a athlete and by being a stronger human being mentally. With his help, I received "athlete of the year" two years in a row at my school and I can assure you that I would not have been able to do so without his help. Thank you so much Mr. Brian, I hope to see you again.

I would like to thank Mrs.Urdahl-Serr from Maple Ridge Secondary school. As it is close to the end of the year, I've realized how much help and support she has given me right from the start. When I first met her she wasn't intimidating at all, she was very friendly and throughout the year she's made a few math jokes and thought of silly but very memorable and helpful ways of remembering math formulas. With the teacher strike in B.C this year she couldn't help us after school so she introduced her classes to online tutoring sessions and condensed math lessons, they helped me greatly.

Although she taught us about math, she also taught us about different universities and the steps we had to take to be successful at reaching our academic goals. As well as being my math teacher she helped me with finding opportunities for challenges and new learning experiences. She went out of her way to help me sign up for unique programs and introduced me to useful online resources such as learn now B.C and search engines like ebsco host. Mrs. Urdahl-Serr has given me a great understanding of math, helped me create new and unique opportunities for myself and she's been a great and understanding teacher on the whole.

Thank you Mrs.Urdahl-Serr!

In my first semester at Niagara College, Acting for Film and Television program we had indivudual meetings with two of our professors and Robin McCulloch told me to stop trying to please everybody. He noticed that I was always trying to make my colleagues laugh when I was performing or even doing simple exercises and games he had us do to warm up. It helped me realized that I wasn't giving myself the satisfaction I craved as an aspiring actor, I was just pleasing the audience. He reminded me of how the work I do is only going to benefit myself and so I needed to be doing it for myself. Since then I saved the "Good time Charlie attitude" as my other profressor, Martin Doyle would call it for the hallway and I found I enjoyed the work much more and experienced a lovely sensation when I followed through with my own actions. I am now able to focus on what I want and less on what I beleive others want and my work as an actor has improved dramatically. So with this I would like to say THANK YOU Robin McCulloch for cutting right to the chase early on. I truly have become a better actor because of it. You've change me for the better, it's also helped me become and lot more focused and professional.
