Can anyone convince me to go to AFM-PA instead of Schulich iBBA?
I was all set on iBBA until I received my PA offer, and now PA is winning by 10%. I would still appreciate an extra push though!

Thanks!

In terms of pursuing your CA, there's not much difference. You'll get a headstart at UW and finish (get your CA) a little faster but it's not much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.

You should choose based on which school and environment you want to be in.

There's the advantage of co-op sequencing corresponding with the busy season, the opportunity to complete an easy double specialization, and the MAcc program which can give you a great headstart.

I haven't even taken a single business course, all sciences and maths, I guess AFM is all about the AFMAA and your average. I got accepted into PA, although I plan on going to engineering.

Schools don't give a frack what you took as long as you have the prereqs. People always over-analyze the admissions process.

Hello!
I got accepted into the Accounting and Financial Management Co-op program at Waterloo! :D
The only issue that worries me is that I have not taken any business courses during my high-school years.. And I'm worried I won't be able to keep up.. Do you require any prerequisite knowledge? Any advice?

ACCEPTED:
Hons. Accounting and Financial Management Co-op - Waterloo
BBA - Laurier
BBA, co-op - University of toronto
Bachelor Of commerce - Ryerson

that's exactly what I felt like! Then again, rambling is another way of saying a flow of ideas lol.

Can any current students comment on the student life at Waterloo or as a SAF student?

for accounting!?!?! AFM!!!!!!!!!!!!! no brainer :P
rotman piggybacks on UofT and rotman MBA rep; the program itself i heard is pretty uncool and massively competitive

Queen's [Wait Listed]
Ivey w BMOS and Psych [Accepted]

Hi everyone,

I'm a current afm pa student going into 2nd year. Congrats to those who got in. I'll start with student life since that of course is very important. You definitely will make alot of friends in first year. Everyone is open to meeting new people. Make sure to come to the academic session in frosh week and of course be sure to sign up to the accounting and finance orientation week. It's a great way to meet new people. Your first year will be hectic, since chances are if you want the best jobs you'll have to get really involved on campus as well as bring high grades. It is ridiculously competitive in afm as it is everywhere else.

In terms of the fm pa thing it does matter alot but it ultimately depends on the individual. There will always be a couple of fms (5-10 max) who get big 4 jobs. But remember that's in a class size of 215 so you truly have to be exceptional.

Feel free to ask me more questions. I look forward to meeting all of you soon.

hey :) can you tell me a little bit more about the competitiveness of afm (im in pa) both finding co-op and during classes & stuff.
Also, do you know how difficult it is to achieve a double designation? I'm thinking about CA and CFA because I want to focus more on finance.

I'm also considering Schulich, do you hae any advice for that? :D

thankss

Probably should have started a new topic for this but anyways, when you guys ranked the residences 1-4 between Waterloo Res, Conrad Grebel, Renison, St. Jerome, did you get to rank each individual res within the Waterloo Residences? For example did you get to choose V1, MKV, UWP, etc and rank those? I'm confused and I feel like I may have messed this up somehow when I deposited my $500.

If the process is the same as last year, then you're fine for now.

Last year we ranked the colleges and UW Res. After that, if you get placed in 'UW res' they send you another form where you can rank the residence buildings (V1, REV etc.) and room types individually.

I am a grade 11 student and i am looking to applying to Waterloo accounting next year in grade 12. Does Waterloo look at your grade 11 English mark. I got a 72 in grade 11 English and i am looking to take it first semester in grade 12. Also what is the lowest average i could possible have and get into the accounting program. I am looking to showing accounting, advanced functions, calculus, international business, English, and business management as my top 6. Are these okay? Also i have not been in any clubs or extra curricular in high school. Does Waterloo really look at extra curricular, besides the 40 hours. I should also mention that i am doing 2 credit co op at an accounting firm.
