I want to go into business but i am set up for sciences, i am in grade 11 and my next years courses are, advanced functions, calculus, physics, biology, chemistry, exercise science, earth and space and i was thinking about taking grade 12 english this year for summer school.i still dont know what i want to be so thats why i left all my options open, but im thinking more towards the financial or business side. so looking at my courses and i think i can change some of them like space or exercise science for business, but will universities want more business from me because i was going to take accounting but it didnt work out so i have no accounting or marketing classes.and also would universities look at me different because i am going to take grade 12 english for summer school.
sorry for the rant, but thanks for any help.

Accounting is generally used for EC's only as many universities do not take it as a course that can be used for admissions average, as of now anyways.
Business is actually one of the easiest to get into as you have a huge freedom with your grade 12 course selections. Math + English are generally the only requirements, your other courses don't matter, as long as they can be used in your admission average.
However, taking a business course can help you build on knowledge before hand. That's the main benefit.
I personally recommend taking Economics though if you can, though not directly related to Business, it is a pretty fun course (depends on where you go to school) and should give you some nice fundamentals.

Kay buddy relax. Universities don't give a ratz azz whether you go to summer school or not. They just want the best marks overall and in the given perquisites (a.functioms English and calc/data) Taking science courses will probably not be a good idea, but again if u later change your mind again, you'll have options. Personally, I think doing English in summer school is smart. Your already taking cal and a functioms....to keep ur options open for both science and business....I'd suggest taking bio and chem along with the two math courses. And cuz you'll have four hard courses take two easy courses, to boost your average. And as far as accounting goes, do it in summer school after you finish grade 12. Thats one way of approaching it, Idk how good you are in certain subjects, so I cant specify any further . Anyhow, gl ( : Co-op Management University of Toronto Class of 2016

Good for you for thinking ahead of time. You will save yourself from trouble later on. Grade 12 goes by quickly. Your admission will be decided by your first semester and only half of second semester. You will know what I mean next year. Anyway, I strongly recommend you to keep your options open. Things can change a lot. I thought I was set for one thing and I made lots of last minute changes. There are several things to consider. Are you by any chance interested in becoming a doctor (physician)? If not, I suggest removing biology, exercise science, and earth & space science and choosing necessary business courses you need. I am not an expert on business so I can't really recommend you anything. If you can, try to keep up with chemistry and physics. It opens door to engineering and it might be something that you like. I didn't think about engineering until January in grade 12. Obviously you would know that you need advanced functions and calculus for any good programs. Good luck UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOOELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERINGMy blog

Anyhow, gl ( : ya i am going to take bio and chem, plus my mom says that physics is always good to have, but for the accounting in grade 12 summer school i wont be able to, and my marks are this semester are, well they are not final because my exams are in about a week but anyways bio: around 80-85, chem:86, english is 85 and fitness is 90 but who really cares about that. and i was doing more research and apparently business can be very competitive which i dont mind but still, i always have the alternative for other career options. and for the summer school it is 100% official that im going. oh and thanks for the help and insight.

Good luck ya im still going to keep my options open, and for the matter about being a doctor, i dont really know because my brother is becoming one and well being in school for 12 years or so isnt really very appealing, and i really wouldnt want to live around death and all, but ya. and earth and space science aswell as exercise science seems like it would be easy and improve my average, but for sure im keeping chemistry and physics although i kinda slacked of and got a 78 this year. adn im actually kinda scared for the maths because i did not like my teacher at all and ended up with a 71, ouch! so next year im going to have to work really hard and another problem i have is that i am in weight-lifting class and my teacher wants me to join rugby and football, and i feel like i will be heavily swamped by my work load from the all the classes. anyhow thanks for the advise and sorry for the delay in responding.
