i'm applying for osap. i have 8, 000 in RESP's.
the application ask 'resp you intend to use for your study period of sept 2012' the fall 2012-2013 year cost roughly around 3,500. my parents want to give me the full 8,000 when i start school. so do i claim the full 8,000 or just what i need for the year.
confused as to how to answer this question. thanks in advance!

You claim what you take out of your RESP for the year. So if you take out the $3500, and leave the rest, you only claim the $3500. If you parents have you take out the $8000 even if you do not use all of it this year, you have to claim the $8000. University of Guelph
