I realize that Queens is the more prestigious program and a better undergrad program as well, however based on expenses, would a better route be to do the Laurier BBA with Co-op and then have some post grad education at a top tier school? All opinions are welcome! Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't tuition fees pretty similar for Queen's Commerce and Laurier BBA?

No, Laurier is cheaper.

QC Costs: http://business.queensu....ture_students/costs.php

WLU Costs: http://www.wlu.ca/calend...44&ss=2179&y=53

Total Tuition:
QC: 46,303
WLU: 26,555.20 (assuming a regular course load of 5 courses per term for 8 terms)

So with tuition verified, the question is: Would it be smarter to take an undergrad at Laurier (Cheaper, Co-op experience = network) and then an MBA, or simply take the prestigious and world renowned Queen's Commerce program (Expensive, student networking, good alumni network, and Queen's network).

My advice would be to go to the program where you feel the most comfortable. Hopefully you've gone and visited both campuses and talked to a few people in each program. Look at the courses that you take in each program.

If you go to the program that you feel 'fits' better, then you are more likely to shine. If you thrive in the program then you can use either co-op or QC's networks to start a career that you enjoy and find rewarding.

Great advice, I appreciate it greatly and will be sure to check out the programs. I have only visited Laurier at the moment and find it very "homey" and comfortable. I can see myself going there. However, I have not visited Queens so I do not know how I will feel with that campus.

Go with your gut on this one. Although Queens is always considered a top tier undergrad business program, it might not be for you. Laurier is honestly not off the map at all, it's still an exceptional program. Many successful people come out of Laurier and the same for Queen's. If you have the initiative, intelligence, hard working nature, and are personable, the opportunities are available to you at both school. Go where you feel is right for you, and that will lead to you being most comfortable and successful.

Generally speaking, this will have more of an impact on your life/career than your choice in university. The name of the school on your resume won't take you anywhere.

Name on the resume got me interviews at:

ExxonMobil,
ONCAP Private Equity,
Manulife,
Symcor,
BMO,
2 of Big Pharmas.

Unfortunately my interview skills weren't upto par for most of those interviews (which took place in fall), but I am currently employed very comfortably for the summer after 2nd year.

My point still stands; going to Queen's didn't get you a job.

Uhh, yes it did, lol. Seems like you have reading comprehension problems. By the end of the summer, I'll be $12k richer.

But it wasn't the only factor. Your past experiences, marks, interview performance, networking, etc. probably played a big role. In fact, the school you went to only helped get the interview, if that. Or maybe they hired you only because you go to Queen's. I don't know.

My manager told me, he specifically hired me because I go to Queen's. Best part? He's a Laurier grad, and the position has traditionally been held by a Laurier co-op student.

What kind of a conclusion are we supposed to draw from that? What a pointless anecdote.

SO YOU'RE TELLING ME... a position that used to be held by a Laurier student... is now occupied by a QUEEN'S STUDENT NOW?! How incredibly significant! I didn't know that temporary jobs held by a co-op student from one school could possibly change to become occupied by a student from another school. Are you sure this is even possible?!
