Did you all have a sport and/or a musical instrument that you played? This might be a stupid observation of mine, but I've noticed that Queen's seems to heavily favour these extracurriculars over others... I don't unfortunately have anything along the lines of music. I am however, in my school's art committee. Do you think that I can receive an acceptable from Queen's Commerce with my following ecs? Debate Team President Investment Club President (founded) Art Committee (Member or Possibly Executive - Still Pending) Math Tutor Executive of a Regional Environmental Organization Badminton Club / Possibly on the Team Next Year Possibly a student ambassador for a provincial - finance organization Grade 12 Courses: _____________________________________________ MHF4U0 - 93% EWC4U0 - 97% ENG4U0 - 90% BBB4M0 - 90% B0H4M0 - 86% MCV4U0 - 92%

Debate Team President Investment Club President (founded) Art Committee (Member or Possibly Executive - Still Pending) Math Tutor Executive of a Regional Environmental Organization Badminton Club / Possibly on the Team Next Year Possibly a student ambassador for a provincial - finance organization I'm applying to Queen's commerce next year as well, and with those ec's I hope and expect that you get a good opportunity. Any volunteer/work experience? Also does anyone know whether Queen's likes work experience because I have a ton of that. Keep it up btw! The stewardship events and planning involved for the regional environmental organization counts as volunteer hours. I guess I'll have somewhere between 150 to 250 hours by the end of grade 12. I unfortunately do not have work experience. I think that they like work experience, being in sports, and having a musical background. Thanks for your advice! I just hope that being in the art committee can fill in the gap of "music" that I'm lacking. Thanks for your advice! I just hope that being in the art committee can fill in the gap of "music" that I'm lacking. Your ECs seem good, but now you should focus on your achievements in your respective activities. Space is extremely limited on the Queen's Comm app. So only list your best extra curriculars, as opposed to laundry listing a whole bunch. I mean, they want quality over quantity for sure. Good luck! I did not get accepted to Queen's. I had a very solid business and participation (clubs, organizations), however, my sports was not very strong, and had NO Musical instruments. You might be right :/ Class of 2016

I also have a question. I live in British Columbia, and the program requirements include English 12, Calculus 12 OR Mathematics 12 with minimum grades of 80%, and two grade 12 courses. Does this mean that they only look at your 4 subjects and marks you submit. For example, if I take Calculus and get 73%, but I also take Math 12, and get 90+%, would they still look at my low calculus mark? Sorry if I'm confusing Grade 12 High School Student from British Columbia "Catch a man a fish, and you can sell it to him. I did not talk about playing instruments, and the only sports I talked about were recreational and intramural sports teams. I think this year a lot of the overall applicant decision weighed on how well you answered your essay questions. I personally tried to answer my questions with a unique and innovative approach. queens specifically look for well rounded students, therefore sports and music will be a plus to your application. just a tip - be smart! don't bs on your application but try to make it most attractive and look appealing. exaggerate on extra curriculars and awards, meaning choose the nicer words for things that you have done. thats what i did~.~
