Thanks in advance I took PP110, PP111, CP102, GG102, and PS 101. What do you want to know about the course structure? First year, you take 2 business classes BU111 and BU121. BU111 looks at the external side of businesses and BU121 looks at the internal side of businesses (accounting, finance, HR, marketing etc.) Also, you will start the new venture project in BU111 (first semester) and finish it in BU121 (second semester).

Hi there, I have a few questions to ask: For BBA students that want to pursue a CA, does it require 4 years or 4 and a half.? Were there any business related clubs that you enjoyed and would recommend? What are some leadership/ community involvement opportunities offered at laurier that you would recommend? What general advise would you give a first year business student at laurier? Laurier BBA/BA - Class of 2017

I currently have RE103 in my schedule but planning to switch it. Which course would you recommend me taking instead. Good thing you included the hash tag though. The University of Western Ontario Class of 2015 BMOS with AEO Status

I don't know much about the CA designation, but i recall my roommate ,who is pursuing it now, saying it is 5 years but don't quote me on that. There are TONS of business clubs at Laurier for first years. Unfortunately, there is not much opportunity for real leadership positions for first years in these clubs. There is a huge fair during O week where you can check out all the different business clubs. Pick a few, join them and work your way up into an executive position. Some clubs worth mentioning is SBE (school of business and economics club), the LINK, SIFE. there are tons General advice: try different classes. you have 5 electives so take things you would be interested in. Also, first year is the easiest year to get a high GPA, which is important for coop, so don't screw that up.

MiniMac wrote:I wanted to ask, how is the overall university experience within Laurier and the BBA program? How is the workload in 1st year? Laurier is awesome. Definitely better than waterloo. The BBA program is challenging especially if you don't like group work. The workload varies depending on which electives you take. Example, if you take MA103 instead of MA 129, you're looking at a much heavier workload. going back to what I was saying about Laurier being better than Waterloo in terms of university experience. What I mean is it is better than Waterloo if you are the type of person who likes to go out and party and stuff once or twice a week. You will have tons of fun staying up all night with your new venture group first year typing up a 30 page business report. if you're a competitive person, you will love every moment of it.

I did all 3 essays the day it was due and got A/A+ on them (I'm not even that great with essays). For the final exam, you're given the essay questions in advance so you can prepare for them. If you meant the mark breakdown of BU121, it's 25% midterm, 25% final, 20% new venture, 10% lab participation and the rest are like online quizzes + individual assignments here and there.

To meet all of the CA requirements, you will have to come back for a ninth term. I guess you don't need to if you take more than 5 courses multiple times. This is the same case with double degrees (stay for an extra study term after graduating). UW/WLU DD '15

Many of those jobs are working at WLU as "XXX Assistant" or "XXX Analyst" or "XXX Student". So disregarding those, what is the REAL employment rate? lol if you know so much why are you asking? this guy is such a troll Laurier School of Business and Economics: BBA/BSc Computing Class of 2016 Dub Degree 5

Contact the Undergraduate Business & Economics advisors. They'll probably override it for you and get you in. You can't take it online, but can take it over the summer in-person, although it's probably not a good idea. Attending: UW/WLU BCS/BBA Double Degree Co-Op (2016) Proud recipient of the Loran Award

You can do it in 4 years but because you want to be a CA you would probably want to do co-op and in that case you stay for an extra semester
