Hey,

So Im entering into the Faculty of Arts general program (U0) for the 2012-2013 Academic semester. From looking at the Approved courses, I noticed an awful lot under say something along the lines of "This course is not scheduled for the Academic year" or "There are no Professors associated with this course for the Academic year." Does this honestly mean that they will not be offering that course for the following year, cause there are many I would like to take with that label, and I'm not sure what it means.

Unfortunately, it means exactly what it says: the course will not be offered next year.

If you want to double check, you can try searching it up on Minerva (Student > Registration > Search Class Schedule.)

I finally just got in - well, "admitted pending final results" (I was on the waiting list for about a month) and am so happy. However, I noticed that under McGill's "New Students Timeline", they say that June 15 is the last day to register for rez and be guaranteed a spot. Is this still true for students who've been on a waiting list and hence unable to apply? Or are spots still left for them? I want to go to McGill so badly but if I can't be guaranteed rez then it will be pretty hard to find an apartment in MTL this close to summer...

You should contact Student Housing. I believe they opt to put students in your position at the top of the waiting list for residence transfers (I know, yet another waiting list ><), but definitely contact someone or check online to verify.

However, it's not hard at all to find apartments in Montreal. Off-campus is much, much cheaper than residence (-50 percent?), and the city's rent control policy has created a renter's market. September is a common lease start date. If you'd like, I'm fairly confident you can find a nice place.

Maybe I just got used to it? =S

I'm personally more irked by their website than by Minerva. I remember applying to undergrad and finding that the McGill website was by far the most difficult to navigate, and it is still true today.

I wonder if there are really that many schools with "better" course registration systems than Minerva. Besides, I don't really need Minerva to shoot pixelated flames or use whimsical Powerpoint-esque page transitions. I'm sure I'd still spend an absurd amount of time sweating over course selection even with a system designed by Apple.
