After high school, I'm planning to go into Life Sciences or something of the sort at UBC or U of T (but I live in Vancouver). Math isn't my strongest subject and I ended up with quite a low B at the end of Pre-Calculus 11. Besides that, I have two dilemmas:
- I still have to take Pre-Calculus 12. I was going to take it in summer school but I changed my mind and took a different course instead, so now I have to take it during the school year ALONG with Calculus. Taking two math courses at the same time already sounds tiring :(
- To get into UBC Science, you only need your marks from English, Math, a science course, and a 4th course or something like that. Basically, your top 4. To get into U of T's science faculty, you need your top 4 + your Calculus mark.
So, should I still take it? Or should I just focus on getting a high mark in Pre-Calculus 12?

Life Sciences at U of T? You NEED calculus. A lot of competitive programs at U of T require you to finish Grade 12 Calc, and you'll take it first year as well.

So I pretty much advise you to take it because you can't afford to be lost!

Go to UBC! Life sciences classes at U of T are really big, and it's harder to get a high GPA for grad school :/ Don't just go the prestige but be WARNED that if you want a challange and you're willing to give up your part time job and social life - this is the university for you. I want to go here for Grad school because of it's overwhelmingly positive feedback. But, it really doesn't matter too much where you get your undergrad from because a doctor on this forum had confirmed that grad schools/medical schools only care about your GPA and will not consider where you got your mark from. Plus, you'll be re-taught everything in medical school anyway. I just want to you to imagine being stuck in calculus at u of t many kilometres away from home. Make a wise decision!
