Okay, ignore the idiots above.

York is pretty easy to get into so expect a lot of retards (no joke sadly) - It's quite multi-cultural but white is dominant.

The area is the biggest turnoff I'd suspect, it's literally in the middle of no where and near the Jane-Finch area.

Quite a lot of partying, personally I'd only go there for Schulich or an arts program..

A month ago, York had to postpone their midterms because those supposed "idiots" started a fire, detroying the boiler room apparently. Also, it was followed by a bomb threat and I've heard that its not the first time... so its up to you.

I have not been there, but I'l warn you, at York University, the professors only signed a contract that said they would not strike for two years, which means when you go, they eventually will.
I have heard many stories, and even a professor told a girl during her portfolio interview to go to OCAD.

Also, while there is a GO train stop that apparently stops by York University in Toronto, the area and the building it self look very sketchy.

After what I've gathered I'd say it's a good place for general arts or schulich (not business in general lol!)

oh sorry, I mean Schulich.

But no, I wouldn't use the word "good" to describe their general arts, it's more like "average" only. The only "good" programs are criminology,Osgoode and Schulich. I heard the graphic design program with Sheridan is pretty decent too.

My choices are kinda limited seeing as how my parents want me stay in Toronto, so I applied to Ryerson, UTSC and York. Im kinda leaning towards York though, seeing as how Im into science and Ryerson doesnt have good science programs and UTSC...well it's UTSC, I graduated from high school to go to UNIVERSITY, not high school lol. How's York for sciences?

York is a huge commuter school - a lot of kids from around the GTA who don't feel like taking public transport downtown to go to U of T end up driving their cars to York. York is fairly easy to get into, half the kids at my school have already gotten early acceptance. A ton of my friends go there and all of them at Keele campus regret it, the one who goes to Glendon absolutely loves it. Then again, if you want to go to grad school and just want to go somewhere you'll get marks, York might be right for you. Their undergrad is generic, but their graduate programs are excellent (Schulich Business, Osgoode Law, etc.)

I am a York student so I am sad to see the "York is full of retards" comment. Unfortunately, being a York student, I cannot escape the constant hate that is directed at us. Luckily I am in the Fine Arts program. It is known as one of the better programs, especially for my degree in Film Production.

My biggest issue is the reputation. Though I would consider myself intelligent, being in York has caused people to assume that I am dumb. If you're easily offended, York may not be for you. If you're going into a Fine Arts, Law, Business or French, then York is one of the best options.

I don't know too much about York, but I heard there is a bar as soon as you walk in.... Don't say I believe it, but that's just what I heard.

York is a commuter school so there isn't much that happens on campus after classes are done for the day, it's seriously dead.

I lived in residence last year and it wasn't great, although if you went out drinking every night you met more people.

The real parties are in the village but they get out of control and shut down quite quickly.

If you're going to school to get an education and not looking for the university to be your only place to socialize then you'll do great.
