So the basic outline of a resume has to be short and sweet?
Also, when giving the resume, should I ask for the manager? Because apparently it would be a better way of actually getting him or her to look at it.

1. Yes. It should be just enough for the manager or person doing the hiring to say "wow! I need to see this person!" They don't need your life story - just enough to show you have the qualifications and desire to do the job.

2. Yes. That way you know who it's going to. Some employees may misplace your resume or forget to pass it on. When it goes right to the manager, you know who your point of contact is.

3. Exactly. And they can see you right then and there.

I don't think so. I've only heard that you can use it for scholarships. Try using a local job agency for jobs.

If you are looking for a job, try coop or internships. Most companies want internships for some reason. If internship is unavailable, network, network and more network. Make friends, meet people, and who knows, maybe they know someone who is willing to hire you. Volunteer a lot, attend other school events from your local post-secondaries.

Not that I know of. If you've search on google for a part time job and didn't find anything you really wanted to do, personally go to a store that you might want to work at near your home and ask about applying.
