Has anyone been accepted for computer science for Waterloo or UofT yet? Do I need to write the Euclid before I'll be accepted?

Also, does anyone know the average time for the acceptances to go out for Waterloo and/or UofT? Thanks!

Waterloo Mathematics (-> Actuarial Sciences)
UofT Computer Science (Co-op) ACCEPTED

Got into UW Computer Science co-op last December.

You don't need to write the Euclid Contest, unless you want a scholarship in the Math department.
Top 6 average so far: 95.1%
Previous Grade 12 courses average: 94.3% (3 courses)
Semester 1 average: 96.0% (3 courses)

Semester 2 average: NaN (2 courses)

Applied to:
Waterloo - Computer Science (Conditional admit - December 10th 2012) (Offer accepted - February 11th 2013
UofT - Computer Science
McMaster - Computer Science (Conditional admit - February 1st 2013)
UOIT - Computer Science (Conditional admit - December 21st 2012)

For waterloo and u of t's computer science, according to people I know it seems like offers are coming out in bulk right now.
And Euclid's something that's preferred but even if you don't do so well it won't hurt.

bigBliss do you want to get into St. George campus btw? Because the average depends on the U of T campus.

I got accepted to uoft on the 15th, campus St. George.
I really think it depends on the campus you applied to, as they may have different admission average cutoffs. Good luck though!
Applied to (for fall 2013):

UOttawa-Computer Science (Co-op) *Admitted* Accepted offer
York U- Computer Engineering (Co-op) *Admitted*
U of T- Computer Science (Co-op) *Admitted*
Waterloo- Computer Science (Co-op) *Waiting*

Grade 11 average: 89.6%
Grade 12 semester 1 average: 87.5%

I got accepted to UofT, but it's my backup, so I'm still worrying about Waterloo. A lot of my friends have been accepted to Computer Science already, so I'm kind of worried. All my pre-reqs are done (Advanced Functions, Calc, English).

Anyone else get accepted to Waterloo CS that isn't a super genius?

You probably shouldn't worry. I'm surprised that I haven't been accepted to any of my selected programs and I have a 94% average.

Waterloo CS seems to be taking their time, I have a 96% average, with 6 12-U courses already finished, including all pre-req's, and I still haven't heard from them (or mathematics). There's still several months left for sending acceptances, it's much too early to be concerned.

lol. I was curious to see if anyone took computer science as I didn't and it seems like only TZak did. Many people who are taking it right now in high school are telling me that I am going to get screwed over next year for not taking it in high school. Same with you lot? Anyone know if its really hard? I heard that its only mathematical equations at university, no words lol.

I got accepted to Waterloo and I'm not a super genius :D Also, they send out acceptances until May. Most get sent out in March. Hardly time to be worrying.

AP English, AP Chem, AP Physics, AP Calc AB, AP Euro History, and Chinese. My gr. 11 year I took AP Bio and the equivalent of gr. 11 and 12 math (so I guess advanced functions?). No grade scaling.

Wat.

You won't be screwed if you didn't take CS in high school. In some ways, you may actually be better off. If you haven't done much programming before, you won't have bad habits.

The first CS course you have to take at UW doesn't assume that you know anything about programming. Also, that first course uses Scheme/Racket which is a (primarily) functional language. This means you need to use the language differently than an imperative language. Many people struggle with this first term.
