Guten Tag!

I am currently a 12th grade student in Northern Alberta. I'm, headed to UCalgary next fall to study towards an International Relations Degree. As well, I intend to expand that to include a double major with PoliSci. Specialization in peace and security, but I haven't decided on a regional focus yet.

As the rez deadlines and class registration season isn't far away, I felt it was about time we start some Calgary specific discussion. So... is anyone else headed to Calgary? What sealed the deal for you? Under what study? Any questions? I don't know everything, but discussion can't be bad right? The best way to learn is to share!

I'm planning to attend UCal too :) I'm going into zoology, but you shouldn't feel rushed on deciding on a regional focus. I would advise trying out different courses first, just to get a taste of what you enjoy and what you're good at.

I chose UCal because it was one of the schools that I could find with a zoology program. Also, I like the location. And the one tax in Alberta isn't too bad either ;)

Im hoping on going to UCal also and I want to study Geography. A lot of my friends think i'm crazy for going there because I live in Southern Ontario and I have schools like Western and U of T around. I was sold on Calgary when I saw the city it was pretty awesome. Plus i really want to move away to get the full university experience :)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a first year student at the UofC, majoring in BioSci. I've enjoyed my first semester here, and all my instructors have been great (helpful, good at lecturing, open to questions, etc.) - didn't hurt that I chose them based on RatemyProfs :P

If you have any questions I can try to answer them.

I'm also headed off to Calgary next year, though I'm that crazy person who decided to major in English. A few factors decided it for me, mostly location. I live in Red Deer currently, and Calgary's only an hour away for me, which means I can come home often. Also my mom's a Calgary alumnus in English, so it's in the family :) Besides, after going to the open house day in November, it seems like a great atmosphere (though I realize that's exactly what they wanted me to think). Only just this week did I really lock myself into Calgary though, as I was fortunate enough to earn a Chancellor's Award, which is a hard thing to walk away from, haha. I'm looking forward to it for sure!
