Yes, Queen's Arts is fairly competitive. Your marks are quite good, but not fantastic. Usually the first round of acceptances go out to kids who have 90%+ or high 80% averages, so you may be stuck waiting for a while to hear on your acceptance. A lot will depend on your PSE too, so make sure you write a good one. If they like your PSE and you maintain an 85%, you should get in at some point, although it definitely wouldn't hurt to try to bump your average up a percent or two.

Thank you :)

How many rounds of acceptances are there? It wouldn't hurt my chances if I don't get an early acceptance will it? I will be applying as a transfer student also so I'm wondering if I am at a disadvantage.

Ok, now I'm confused. Where are you transferring from? Is 85% your high school average, or your average at your current post-secondary institution? If you have an 85% average at any university in Canada, you should have zero problems transferring to Queen's as that is much, much better than an 85% average in high school. If 85% is your high school average and you have attended any other college or university since leaving high school, you will need to disclose that information plus your current grades to Queen's, and they will factor that into their admission decision in addition to your high school grades.
Are you a broke student? I've earned over $500 in amazon giftcards from Swagbucks since August, 2011. I haven't had to pay for a single textbook out of pocket since joining, and I have money left over for coffee!

It is my average at a community college I am currently attending! Sorry for the confusion -- my high school grades are less than appealing so I went to college and I plan on finally attending university next fall :)

Yeah, you should have no problems getting accepted with an 85% average at a college. The only place you might run into problems is if you are planning or hoping to transfer credits, because I know that Queen's is very picky/fussy about accepting transfer credits even from other universities, and I don't think they usually accept them from colleges at all. If you just want to start fresh though, you should be golden. Congrats on your success and good luck!

I'm so excited to come to Queen's! I've wanted to go there since grade 10, as well, but my guidance counsellors told me I couldn't get in. I guess they didn't know what they were talking about because I was accepted way back in February!! :'D

Congratulations to everyone! We're in for an awesome 4 years!

(Also, if anyone has any idea about the Queen's concert band tryouts or anything, can you let me know? I've called maybe 6 times since March and no one has gotten back to me.)

Don't waste your time Queen's is a waste of time. Kingston is a craphole and the locals are no better than the students. You would be far better off saving your money and going to a school you can commute to.
