Yikes! so today my guidance counsellour pretty much told me that I had to drop one of the courses I wanted to take because not enough people signed up (ugh!) so she switched me into a physics class for next year. The thing is I'm not so good at physics, I'm good at math and everything but the physics units in grades 9 and 10 just confused me (Electricity-9, optics-10). So I'm wondering is the workload bad for physics, and what do you learn? I really don't want to go through learning about how mirrors work again, electricty wasn't bad though.

Also with these courses will I have a big workload (especially since I'm now taking all three core sciences):
English-university
French-University
Data Management-University(12)
Introduction to Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology-Mixed
Biology-University
Chemistry-University
Physics-University
Girl's Fitness-Open (taken to lighten up the load)

I'm really concerned about getting good grades in grade 11 without having to do 8 hours of homework a night...

I'd say grade 11 physics is a huge step up from gr 9-10 content (optics and such). There's probably other courses you can take, it might be useful to take something that you can continue in grade 12 to boost your top 6 average.

The first unit of physics will probably be the hardest. That is because you probably haven't done anything like it. But it gets much easier as the units go by. Just make sure to do your homework and ask your teacher any questions you had from the homework and anything you didn't understand. One thing I will tell you is that practice deriving formulas! It is really helpful!

Grade 11 Physics was easy. I'm from Alberta, but I presume the curriculum is somewhat similar to yours. We studies kinematics (dsplacement, velocity, acceleration, projectiles, etc.), dynamics (force, Newton's Laws, and some astronomy), circular motion (work, energy, and circular motion), and finally oscillatory motion (waves). It was a fun and easy class, unlike Grade 12 Physics which was hell.

Well, in Saskatchewan, my grade 11 physics was horrible! I didnt understand what we were learning, but I got by cuz I asked for help and did assignments right away so I didnt forget what I was supposed to do. As for my grade 12 physics that I took last semester, it was a piece of cake. It turned out to be an applied math! I would just advise to try your best and go into that class with an open mind. If it doesnt go perfectly, at least try to pass the class and you can say that you tried ur best (if you truly did lol). Best of luck!

And as for taking all three sciences... ur classes for grade 12 look like a blessing compared to what Im finishing up for this year. I took all three core sciences, and english class each semester, a Canadian History, French, and my final two grade 12 maths and calculus. Plus I finished a correspondence class in the first semester. Full class loads just help you know what you can handle for later on. :)
Follow your dreams and you might get someplace. -Me

This is for grade 11, grade 12 should look more along the lines of this:
English
french
biology
chemistry
physics
Advanced functions
Calculus and Vectors
Philosophy

so tougher than grade 11 but thank you:) I'll try my best! It shouldn't be too hard to pass though, I'm generally a very bright student and have already learned some grade 11 physics concepts (I'm currently in an enriched program)so hopefully I'll be okay.

Thank you(: if I find it too difficult I'll drop out and switch. I guess I should've mentioned that the university program I want to get into at Western recommends it, but of course I don't want it to ruin my top six average!
