Hi, I will be attending UWO this coming fall. I applied and was accepted into the faculty of Health Sciences. However the program which I am enrolled in was not what I expected. In my student center in a box labelled "My Academics" it says "Faculty of Health Sciences - Bachelor of Health Sciences (3 year) Health Sciences". My intention was to pursue a 4 year Honours degree. I'm confused as to why I'm enrolled in the 3 year version. My guess is I made a big mistake and selected the wrong version of Health Science although I didn't see another health science option on OUAC for Western. My program specifically as shown by OUAC states - Program Code EW
Program Title MN:Health Sciences
Full Time
Subject of Major Interest Rehabilitation Sciences
Year Code First Year

Basically What I was wondering is if there is any possible way I can change my degree pathway from a 3 year to a 4 year honours degree? Also I'm not sure who I should be contacting about this problem. So if anyone could help me out in anyway I'd be really appreciative!

Contact the university. Is there an academic advisor or counsellor for the health science program listed on Western's web site? If so, call or email that person, and they can help you out.

I know at some universities, you are enrolled in the "general" program to start, and are only able to enter the "honours" program after first year, if your marks are high enough. Maybe Western is like that, but definitely contact the university to find out what's going on.

Don't worry about it. This causes confusion every year, but I believe it happens to everyone (in science at least). Like nutritionrunner said, you aren't technically enrolled in the 4-year honours degree until you fulfill the prerequisite first-year courses (see here: http://www.westerncalendar.uwo.ca/2012/pg415.html). When you complete Intent to Register next year and meet the criteria after adjudication, that's when you should see "Honours Specialization in Rehabilitation Sciences".

I'm in the same boat, but we all start with a 3 year program then it's up to everyone to choose what they want to major/minor in and you have to declare that i think later first year after you start off with the required prerequisites in your desired module.
