@ArtyomA: All your options are at this link

http://www.senecac.on.ca...courserequirements.html

unless the classes are full at whatever point you decide to add the subject.

I can't say much about which is better..... I think its more of which description appeals to you more and which you think you will ultimately be interested in learning for the fall semester...

@HansC: YAY!!! but u just might be able to change ur elective if...and only IF ppl choose to drop a subject leaving u an open space to take that does not conflict with ur current schedule....

as to the scrubs/shoes...i'll get back to u on tht...i know wal-mart, zellers (closing), and a few other stores like mark's work wearhouse...but i'm trying to find a set tht is not tht expensive so if i do find something i'll post

@victoriakwan: yes for sure ^-^

UPDATE!!!!!

I just called a bunch of people at Seneca's King Campus, so FYI (i'm not sure if you were wondering the same thing, but here are the answers I got just in case...and no the answers are not word for word...so I'm just getting to the point)

Q: It says on the To Do List in the package that we require all textbooks and course manuals before September 4, 2012…what would we do if we were relying on OSAP in order to pay for them?
...A: Although there is nothing you can really do until you receive your first disbursement, inform your teacher of your circumstances ASAP, but you should be relatively okay for the first week.

Q: IS there any cost to get the clip on version of the ID card?
A: No, it comes with your tuition.

Q: Is it mandatory to get a locker?
A: No, it is absolutely not necessary. Just in the past, students in the nursing program find lockers to be useful since there is a lot to carry.

If anyone has any other questions they want answered, but they don’t want to call, post them and I’ll try to get an answer ASAP.

@joeykwli - I assume you already read that the appropriate shoes are either

1. White, flat, leather shoes with rubber sole, closed toe and heel.
2. Plain white running shoes with white leather uppers are acceptable.

@acariino - I believe you need to give them the pages in your package in order to ensure you are eligible for a practical placement and I don't think we need lockers but it is highly recommended given that lockers are given at random (link about lockers http://www.senecac.on.ca/student/lockers.html)

@ArtyomA: you should be getting a welcome package in the mail soon as to the general education option it is required that you take physcology and a liberal studies course (which is the general education option) of your choosing...go on SIRIS...then go to registration options...and click add a single subject...and choose which you want and which fits into ur schedule...do it as soon as possible because i think the last day to add a subject to your schedule is September 10

Okay thank you!! So Im guessing you give those paper first day of clinical correct?

And did any of you guys get your textbooks yet??

Yes, I already bought most of my textbooks but from people who’ve recently completed their first year at Seneca. I’ve compiled a list of books you are required to purchase throughout the year. But if you are still unsure then you can wait until the first day of classes (because professors will also tell you what books are required for the course). However, these books listed were all used by 1st year Seneca nursing students from Fall 2011.

HAP101: Principles of Anatomy and Physiology 13th ed. By:Tortora

The Seneca bookstore sells it in a binder version or hardcover version. It also includes an atlas and Wileyplus which is an access code used for online quizzes and assignments. I suggest that you buy the three piece bundle from the bookstore because buying the textbook off from someone and buying the code separately is much more expensive.

NUR101: Publication Manual Of The American Psychological Association 6th ed. By: APA
Nursing Theorists And Their Work 7th ed. By: Alligood
Canadian Fundamentals Of Nursing W/ User Guide/Acc 4th ed. By: Potter Perry (this is also sold in a bundle so again I suggest you buy it from the bookstore)

NUR110: Nursing Skills Online 2.0 Canadian Fundamentals of Nursing 4th ed. By: Potter Perry
Mosbys Dictionary Of Medicine Nursing And Health Professionals 8th ed. By: Mosby

NUR201: Nursing For Wellness In Older Adults 6th ed. By: Miller
Canadian Maternity Newborn & Womens Health Nursing 1st Canadian ed. By: Evans
Mosbys Comprehensive Review For The Canadian Rn Exam 1st ed.By: Marshall-Henty

NUR203: Physical Examination & Health Assessment W/ Hao Online 1st Canadian ed.By: Jarvis (this is a bundle as well)

*Aside from the texts that are sold in a bundle everything else can be bought used but if you prefer buying your texts new then that’s perfectly fine.

my timetable is different.. i dont have NUR201 AND NUR203..

instead i have a PSY113 AND NUR102. Does anyone else HAVE THIS???

Hey, sorry for the confusion what I meant to say is that those are the books required for the entire year (including second semester- NUR201, NUR203). I know someone who has recently completed their first year at Seneca, so they gave me a list of all the textbooks they used during freshman year. As for NUR102 I was told that the textbooks used for the course are “Nursing Theorists and Their Work” and “American Psychological Association”. For PSY113 the textbook used last year was called “Psychology From Inquiry To Understanding”. But since the package didn’t mention this textbook, we will probably have to wait until the first day of our psych class, unless anyone has any idea what book will be used for PSY113?

For any CPR training this is a great site http://www.torontocpr.com/hcp.html. I recently received my package and I should really start buying my nursing equipment, any suggestions for stores that sells scrubs in Toronto?

Hey everyone! Anyone in section D on their student timetable would like to switch to section E? Section D would be more convenient for my job schedule. If anyone is interested please PM me.

I'm not sure if each person who posted on this topic looked at this a lot without posting...

I'm not sure how many people looked at this topic to see why there were so many views/posts without posting...

I'm not sure who is actually going to York/Seneca's Collaborative program and just didn't want to post...

but if you are going to York/Seneca's collaborative BScN program this upcoming fall semester as a first-year or if you are selling used but current editions of the textbooks, and you have facebook

Hey guys! I'm hoping you can answer this question since they all seem to busy at the office nor is their response to my email was helpful.

So I have completed the police reference check in May for employment. Can this document still be used for clinical? Or am I still required to pick up the form at the campus? Also in the package we recieved, it says that the Vulnerable Sector Police Clearances are valid for one year from date of issue.
