For these courses:

MATH 135
MATH 137
CS 135
ECON 101
PHYS 121

I'm looking to buy them now, but I don't know which specific books I need.

Google waterloo bookstore. On the left of the website, click Books, then click BookLook. From there you can find all the necessary textbooks according to your courses.

Those are the exact same courses I'm taking first term, lol. For me booklook only finds books for 3 out of the 5 courses... Anyway, I'm probably going to wait until first day of classes to see if we actually need them, and then try and get them used off a senior student.

Lectures are usually self contained. So, if you plan to go to class everyday, you should be fine.
