I am a "left moderate social libertarian".
It's nice to see some people so passionate about Canada. I feel like there's a lack of patriotism amongst Canadians.

I'm done. You're wrong. Okay then, I guess you're right. After all, you can end the discussion whenever you want and claim that you're right and I'm wrong. I'd like to post one last video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLCEXtpTNYU
It sickens me that so many simply accept the government like sheep and do not look outside the box. I wasn't trying to troll or preach about some dangerous, radical idea, but oh well. Merry Christmas! Schulich School of Business York University

Merry Christmas! People accept the government because the government is a reality in today's society, and government will always play the largest aspect in running the country and providing services. You're debating something that everyone except a very small minority accept as reality. You're not questioning how much government is acceptable (which is still a very big question), you're saying government should not exist at all. That is not a responsible or realistic position to take. Anarchy will never work, nor should it ever be a position to take on government issues.

Now, back on topic :) What else does everyone think about their political views?

I know you "ended" our discussion but... Governments haven't always existed and I'm confident that there will be a change. Maybe not within my lifetime, but we are ever evolving. Anarchy doesn't mean "no rules" but rather "no rulers". Just wondering, did you get a change to read this: mises.org/rothbard/newlibertywhole.asp (Skip to Chapter 12) Schulich School of Business York University

Actually yes, the notion of government has always existed, basically from cavemen eras. Government is just a central "leader" that makes decisions for the group. That can mean a king, a tribal leader, or a president. ARMY101 wrote:Anarchy doesn't mean "no rules" but rather "no rulers". And who will enforce those rules? If everyone is living without a ruler and they don't have the threat of punishment behind them, they have no incentive to follow the rules.

That can mean a king, a tribal leader, or a president. A central leader is different from a government in that they do not incorporate coercion. I relate tribal leaders to owners of a private business. Kings, on the other hand, are pretty much the same as modern day governments. This site, for example, is a private company with an owner and moderators who enforce the rules. Such will always exist, however they do not incorporate coercion. Did you have a chance to read that chapter I posted? I'm sure it'll answer a lot of your questions. Schulich School of Business York University
