Hello,

I was wondering what type of feedback we can expect to receive after the first year activity report as well as when we will get it. I recently finished first year in BMOS and I am an AEO. Also, was wondering if you could provide some insight into the HBA/J.D. dual degree such as graduating class size, hours of class per week, etc.

Thanks!

I think it will be like recommendations or like "keep it up"? Also I heard we get them in early July

I was recently rejected from Ivey for AEO status. As a result, I have a few questions.

1) For consideration to the HBA program in 3rd year assuming my extracurricular activities are identical, does Ivey value an 80% from Schulich more than they value an 80% from Western?

2) If I go to Schulich for my first and second years of university am I completely eliminating every dual degree option that Ivey+Western offers? Even the HBA / JD Law one?

3) I realize that I wasn't granted AEO status because my extracurricular activities were lacklustre, as I had a 95.33% average. Is there any way you can send me the HBA application so I can better prepare myself this time around?

4) If I went to Western, is program / course difficulty factored into the application process?

Do you have a specific date as to when the small handful of acceptances left to be given out will be sent by, Kate?

When you say small handful are we talking 10> or 50>?

As of Friday, May 25th, all AEO offers have been given.

Hi Kate,
Thanks for responding to my previous question.
What is the name and course code of the recommended business class for Ivey AEOs in their first year at Western?
Thanks!

Business 1220E is the first year business course that Ivey strongly encourages students to take (although it is not required). Check out the course website for more information: http://www.ivey.uwo.ca/a...e-business/Bus1220.htm.

You will receive feedback on both your grades and your extra-curricular activities. We will let you know if your progress so far is anything from "excellent" to "needs improvement."

With respect to the HBA/JD, about 20 students enter the program each year although that number is expected to grow. Your 3rd year will be spent exclusively at Ivey, your 4th year will be spent at the Law School and your 5th and 6th years will be a combination of the two. In your 3rd year, you will be in class from 8am to 1pm, Monday to Friday. Workload from Ivey in your 5th and 6th years depends greatly on how you structure your courses. For more information about workload while in the law school, please contact the law school directly.

1) For consideration to the HBA program in 3rd year assuming my extracurricular activities are identical, does Ivey value an 80% from Schulich more than they value an 80% from Western?

A competitive average is 80% regardless of the University.

2) If I go to Schulich for my first and second years of university am I completely eliminating every dual degree option that Ivey+Western offers? Even the HBA / JD Law one?

Transfer students can be eligible to apply for the HBA/JD dual degree only.

3) I realize that I wasn't granted AEO status because my extracurricular activities were lacklustre, as I had a 95.33% average. Is there any way you can send me the HBA application so I can better prepare myself this time around?

The HBA application will be available online later this fall. We always provide examples in the ‘help’ section of each application.

4) If I went to Western, is program / course difficulty factored into the application process?

A competitive average is 80% regardless of the program/faculty (with the exception of Engineering, where a competitive average would be 78%).

We will start to extend offers to AEO2 students in early June. Decisions to all applicants will be communicated by mid-July.

With Ivey, the focus is more on soft skills than hard skills. Would it give you some limitation later on as you don't have a specific professional skills? What do you do with an ivey degree, especially if you lack work experience (compared to others like waterloo afmpa) and dont have a designation?

I took 8 courses this year so I would have any prereqs for whatever programs I wanted to apply to. Now, I'm going into business and don't need my two science courses, which are my seventh and eight courses. Are these seventh and eight courses considered at all? I'm considering dropping them, and if I stay in the courses I might fail them. All the while I am still maintaining my top 6, I'm sure wondering if the 7th and 8th courses have any affect at all.

Thanks

Ivey's HBA Program will greatly develop your softer skills, but that is not to the detriment of hard skills. You will graduate Ivey with advanced business acumen.

There are many special program features in the HBA Program, the ability to pursue professional designations. You will have access to all the required courses to pursue the Chartered Accountant and Certified Management Accountant designations. We are also a CFA Program partner school which means that we offer courses that cover the content of the Chartered Financial Analyst exams. Check out the Ivey’s website for more information: http://www.ivey.uwo.ca/h...ram-features/index.htm.

Ivey’s students do not take time out of the school year to work in industry, but last year, 96% of students had a summer internship or were working in a relevant field over the summer. 93% of last year’s class had a full time job offer within 3 months of graduating, with an average starting salary of about $64,000/year. For more information on where Ivey grads start their careers, check out our placement reports: http://www.ivey.uwo.ca/d...-Employment-Report.pdf.

hey kate,

what if you applied but didn't get aeo status in high school, and you apply after second year, would they go back to look at the previous application?. Would the previous application affect anything at all? or will everyone who applied be treated equally and have only their second year application evaluated

We will only look at the most current application that we receive (if you apply as a university student, your AEO application will not be looked at).

Hi,

Do median grades need to appear on the final transcript before the transcript is forwarded to the admissions office (from another university)? Also, will offers to transfer students be going out the same time as AEO2s or are most offers for transfer students already gone out. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by median grades? Do you mean interim grades? Unless specfically requested, we do not need interim grades. Offers to AEO students who met their requirements are the first to go out. Offers to all other applicants will go out mid-June through to mid-July.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that I am passing StudentAwards.com on to my very capable colleague Alan Neal. Alan is Ivey’s newest Recruiting Associate. He is an HBA 2012 grad who completed a dual degree with Ivey and the Faculty of Science.

Best of luck to all of you!

Cheers,
Kate

Alan,

Could you give me a bit more info on how the admission process is for American students? I'm a Canadian citizen, so I'm not worried about visas, etc. I'm more interested in credits, how I will report my marks, and how my average is calculated.

Thanks!

In terms of HBA acceptances being sent to AEO2's in "early June" could this mean tomorrow potentially?

Thanks!
