Wow! You are a very well-rounded person! Yes, I completely agree with you though. I have a 91% average right now and I currently trying to balance everything in my life right now. It just seems like I don't have enough time for many things! But what your doing is awesome, just keep it up and good luck to you! :)

Edit: OP, inflation could also be a factor (or in your case DEflation). Is there anyone at your school with 90s? I would think the school has an effect on marks too. I know my tech department has no problem with high 90's, science department is different. For business courses, IB has an average of 90, Econ has average of 70 i believe, Accounting with the old teacher it was amazing if you had anything higher than a low 80 High 90s just don't really happen at my school, especially in Grade 11 and 12. English, anything over 90 is just insane, rarely happens. I hate it

You need competition and some sort of extracurricular activity to get your mind off school and relieve stress to keep yourself focused when you need to and to stay sane.

For sure! I volunteer with Special Olympics, do school sports and I have club track 6 times a week. I am currently training for international competitions also :) I know what you mean though, I am curious what my average would look like without these other priorities.

I'm ranging from 90-97% this year. I have a job, but nothing else. The job isn't exactly stressful. It's just a timesink.
I have more than enough time to fit it all in. Takes incredible organizational skills some days, but I manage quite well.

I know someone who's involved in the same stuff you are, and my advice is to sacrifice a few things in order to get the extra marks. Sometimes it's just not worth it, but if it's something you enjoy and it gives you comfort during this highly stressful time, then I would suggest sticking with it and somehow you'll find a way to make it work.

I have a 91% overall currently and I am also president of my school's Athletic Council, editor of our magazine, I coach the boys volleyball team, play girls volleyball and badminton, as well as tutor. This year I decided to give up several other extra-curriculars in order to focus on my studies (even though I had higher averages in the past 3 years than this one). I decreased my amount of stress but this did not really effect my grades.
I think averages depend on the courses, your work ethic and the teacher's/school's expectations for those courses. Stress is obviously a large factor but people that do well know how to handle stress and manage their time. (As most of these people are examples for ^^) :)

I have severe crohn's disease, which is still not in remission, along with IBS. Several other health problems which have me in physiotherapy, and at the doctors frequently. I am part of several studies for crohn's but I have to travel 5 hours to get to the hospital for them, which often causes missing school. I am part the yearbook committee advertising team, the Me to We team secretary, a writer for the school newspaper but I still have over 94 in most of my classes. I've never gotten below a 95 in high school (and that was Gr.9 French) and I have around ~98 right now with 2 science and 2 math classes.
I played AAAA baseball (well, quit for this year), and I umpire baseball and ref hockey. I also have a few extracurriculars. I think it's bad to assume that everyone with a high average studies all the time because there are lots of people (like on the first repliers) who play sports and do other stuff outside of school.
Then again, there are lots of people who study all the time for grades but I'll trade a couple percent for way more fun any day.
EDIT: Not to mention, US school applications are killer. With the standardized tests, stress over getting LORs, the essays, the personal statements, making sure everything is in on time, constant stress...unbelievable amount of work. I now realize why everyone makes such a big deal out of applying to college in the US. (those of you applying will echo my sentiments)

Premier Baseball League of Ontario. Need to be a certified baseball center for it...only a select few teams are in it, including the cream of the crop (ie. Toronto Mets, Ontario Blue Jays, London Badgers, Terriers Baseball). It's intense as hell. Class averages, um, not too sure...low 70s I think. We are grade inflated over here though.

The high grades just give you a short-lived ego-boost.

What I find most interesting about these discussions is that people just post great stuff about themselves. Is it necessary to tell us that you are a VP of a club, a manager of some pizza place..?
Just post your question. No need to brag about your personal accomplishments buddy.

First of all, yes it is necessary. i was explaining my situation because that was part of my question that i wanted answers to. Second i also find it interesting how i asked a question to get answers, not to get somebody ripping on me instead of answering it. hmm weird eh buddy?.

I am struggling to get an average of 87, although 90 was my original goal. I participate in 3 sports teams, and am an avid volunteer. I used to work as a cashier, but I decided work was the least important at the moment. I am stressed out especially because school is starting soon and ISPs and Exams are coming up. For others dealing with stress, I would recommend to just get all of your work done ASAP. Why worry about getting your big assignment done when you can just go ahead and get it done. If you're feeling stressed your probably just unprepared, so start preparing.
