Does this mean that if we don't get into one of the programs we applied to we will essentailly be declined on that day as well or do you think there is still a chance of acceptance only on a later date. Hey guys I never got any of these e-mails and I applied for the entrance awards. Do we have to check on SOLUS for the messages?

I think the email was only sent to applicants who were nominated for Chancellor's, so if your school didn't nominate you then you wouldn't have received it even if you applied for other awards. Queen's Arts '16 Chancellor's Scholarship Recipient

Did anyone else find the email a bit confusing? "We would be delighted to have you join our Queen’s community next fall." They make it sound like we've already been accepted

Yeah, pretty nervous as hell My email was like Dear xxx Congratulations on your offer of admission to Queen’s University. We wanted to provide you with an update on the Chancellor’s Scholarship selection process. (Then, smth about committee selecting applicants nominated by HS, will know by Feb. 3, etc etc etc) We acknowledge the time and effort you have invested in your Major Admission Award Application. Each year our Selection Committee comments on the quality of the applicants that have been evaluated. We wish you continued success in your studies. We would be delighted to have you join our Queen’s community next fall. lol pretty sweet how they will comment on the quality of each nominees; scary thought too Queen's University '16 Bachelor of Commerce Fall 2012 B.C. oh I think when they say "comment" they just mean that every year the committee is impressed by everyones applications, as in just a general acknowledgement that it's a hard choice. I'm pretty sure they don't actually "comment" individually on each application haha the committee is pretty small and last year there was ~860 applicants, that would take WAY too long I could be misreading it, but that's just what I came to understand from the email haha Queen's University ArtSci 2016

Well I do know for a fact that previous years, the "winners" had individual messages from the committee. So maybe winners will get those messages, but not the nominees. Yeah, I definitely don't think they would give an individual message for all the nominees since that's what, 600+ messages? I can confirm that they do however write a message for winners. When my sister got the letter in the mail outlining the terms of the scholarship, there was a little handwritten note at the bottom congratulating her on her volunteer accomplishments or something like that. Doubtful, since only out of province applicants have been accepted so far. Actually, from reading past Chancellor's acceptance forums, almost everyone who had been accepted to their program before major entrance scholarships were released didn't win. But I feel like that's probably just coincidence, I don't think being accepted early means you're out of the running either. aharding22 wrote:I wonder if any/how many of us will actually win............. Yeah, especially since I feel like there were enough people with absolutely flawless applications. Mine just had too many little things wrong with it. If you're the one who said you knew 2 of the judges, then you'll definitely win lol. I don't think I have half a shot.. Also, even though my highschool average is high nineties, you have to keep a 93% to renew this scholarship in uni! Not sure how tricky that will be with the intense workload.. Oh haha no I don't know them well at all. One used to work with my mom, met him maybe once when I was really young, he definitely doesn't remember me. One went to my highschool, but again, doesn't know me. So I don't have any kind of advantage there. And I thought it was 80% average to maintain the scholarship? Also pretty sure you can take an 80% course load if anyone is interested. Queen's Arts '16 Chancellor's Scholarship Recipient

Well it says on the site : Renewable for 3 subsequent years (4 years total) provided that a 3.7 GPA is achieved in a full course load each year. Selected recipients will receive further information about renewal criteria. Which is a 93, I think haha And any connection you have to a judge, even a small one, puts you ahead of everyone else : ) Queen's Chancellor's Scholarship Recipient '12
