How Do I Choose a Reputable University For My Undergraduate Degree?

By Janice Newton

University reputations can vary depending on the program you plan to take.  Try contacting the student organizations in the program you are interested in.  They should be able to talk with you about how they see the program.  You can also check out the faculty members who teach in the program from the program web site.  What have they published?  What are they teaching?  In the end, reputation is less important than whether the program is a good fit with your interests.

Janice Newton, Department of Political Science, York  University, and 3M National Teaching Fellow.
