Preparing for University (2)

By Roger Moore

You prepare for university as you prepare for life: be prepared for anything! And no, you don't know what's going
to happen next.

A University Attitude
Most professors put their pants on one leg at a time. They also used to sit where you're sitting now. It's what they did afterwards that makes the difference.

In Class
Do's: Doodle, make notes, think, ask questions, know what you don't know, keep thinking!

Studying
Do your work in advance: then you can ask questions that will help you to better yourself.

Help From People
Ask for it. Say Thank you! after you get it.

University Resources
Find out what they are: use them.

Skills
Recognize them. Develop them. Above all, develop those that will help you throughout your life.

Extra-Curricular
Go for it! Many of my most successful friends made careers from their extra-curricular activities. Few, except those who are now teachers, made a career from what they learned in class.

Love of Learning
You develop love of learning when you love what you learn. I have never worked a day in my life. Work is a
four-letter word: I love my work so much that I never think of myself as actually working!
