Tips for Potential Grad Students: Math

Be prepared to work with abstract concepts, even when working in applied mathematics; be prepared to work long hours, face challenging material and work independently; request to lead a tutorial, or (even better) teach a course, to gain valuable experience (it’s very likely that you will need a teaching reference!).
