Hey! So, I applied to the Senate Page Program, but haven't heard anything back yet. Is that bad? Has anyone been contacted? Does anyone know the Senate Page Program timeline? I can't seem to find out when I should be contacted by, or if the lack of contact means I'm out of the running, or what. Help!

I just got an email back from the program saying that I've advanced to the next stage of the application process and will be writing a written test some time next week. Did you also apply to the House of Commons Page Program? Carleton University 2016 - Public Affairs and Policy Management

Did you also apply to the House of Commons Page Program? I haven't gotten any reply back. I guess that means I'm out. Maybe I'll get a reply some time today or tomorrow, though. I hope so. I didn't apply to the House of Commons as well because I really want to work in the Senate. I'm strange. Oh, well. I can always re-apply next year.

Hey! How did your test go? I definitely know I passed, but I don't know if I did well enough to be in the top 20... I really botched the 10-point question.

I honestly didn't study enough for it, because I was away from home all last weekend, and had a big calculus test to study for. I don't think I did terribly, but I doubt I did well enough. LOL, that current event. I tried to BS it as well as I could, but I had never even heard of it. I actually made stuff up, and only really talked about the implications of the appointments, rather than any of the specific things they asked. It sucked because I knew waaaayyy more about the other current event and it was worth only 2 points. The best part is that it doesn't even matter! *sarcasm* I received an email right after writing the test telling me that I scored just below the level of French that you need for the House of Commons Page Program, and I believe they use the same score for the Senate Program, so I'm out for the year. :/ Good luck! Hey, I had my French test for the Senate Program today. I did even worse on it than I did on my House of Commons French Test (I received an intermediate on that one, taking me out of the running.) But later today, I got an email scheduling me for a final interview. Is anyone else still in the running for the program/applied for the program before? Do you know if that means that I passed the French portion, or do they compare everyone at the end? Carleton University 2016 - Public Affairs and Policy Management

And I'm soooo scared :( is it really hard? What do they make you do?? How good did you think your French was? And maybe they take your results from all portions and evaluate them at the end? But it seems to me that your performance in the interviews are pretty important? At least the first-language one(s) anyway. :P Gahhh!!! It's so close I can practically feel that dang Bowtie on my neck :P I got an email for a "group interview" tomorrow, but it didn't say anything about it being final... Is that a bad thing? Good luck!!

Hmm. I don't think mine said final interview actually, but I assumed that it was the final step in the application process from a timeline. I had mine today, how did yours go? Carleton University 2016 - Public Affairs and Policy Management

It went pretty well, AND I got the results of my French test. I actually passed this one! I was so shocked, I had to how the results to a teacher to confirm that I wasn't crazy and that I passed. The interview went okay, but I can't really tell since I only had two people to compare myself to. One guy was pretty good, the other one didn't really say much and a few times actually said "I have nothing to add to their answers." Carleton University 2016 - Public Affairs and Policy Management

Sorry to join this forum so late. I just stumbled upon it! I forgot I even had an account here...
I also made it this far: I think I actually had my interview with Melodydrama-- I'm the "other one" LOL. In my defense, I had been traveling through a remote region of Bolivia and struggling to get a connection for the interview left me a little flustered! For the record though, Melodydrama, I thought you were fantastic so if you don't become a Senate Page I will be incredibly surprised; I would have hired you on the spot!
Rosemariemegill, it sucks that you didn't get in (seriously, going through this whole process is a real pain...), but I was just wondering how exactly you knew that you were unsuccessful? We all received the email informing us that the decision would be made the week of the 21st, but I would have thought that they would have let unsuccessful candidates know within that week as well? Well, apparently not..
I have been sitting on pins and needles wondering when they are going to let us know, but I haven't received anything yet... I even emailed them, but no answer! I'm sure I'll be fine with whatever the decision is (frankly my interview was terrible, so I won't be the least bit surprised if it's a "no"), but it would just be nice to know where I stand so that I can choose different courses should I not need to keep so many chunks of time free for them!
I wish you both all the best in your future studies-- wherever they may take you!

I wish you both all the best in your future studies-- wherever they may take you! Hey! That's actually crazy amazing that you were in Bolivia, I did an exchange to Venezuela and now I have the urge to do a tour of the Latin American liberation, including Bolivia. I actually called Lucie levesque on Monday and she flipped through some files and told me that I hadn't been accepted. Kinda sucks, but she was pretty nice about it. It actually would not surprise me at all if we don't receive any formal communication telling us that we haven't been accepted. I'm expecting a letter, pretty much, which is how it went for the hoc page program rejection. I really thought I had done well, but honestly I knew going in that being a native of Ontario is a huge disadvantage, especially since I think almost all of the leaving pages are from bc and Quebec, and they need to have provincial representation. If you haven't heard anything yet, don't give up! She told me that they hadn't disclosed the full results and there were still some people she hadn't contacted yet.

Oh... awkward. Sorry, I mean, I think they understood that things were a little awkward for your interview. You were standing in a phone booth to the best of my understanding? Probably the most awkward setting for an interview ever. It was pretty hard to tell how the interview went other than the pauses. I don't think any of us actually messed up too badly, but none of us stood out either. The only problem was when we repeated what other people said (which I know that all of us did). And you probably get brownie points for doing such a cool thing with your year. Hopefully we both hear back from them. I know for a fact that they have not finished the application process (and it has to be the longest application process of life. They are just getting around to interviewing my references now (One of them has an interview tomorrow), so I'll know for sure whether or not I got in over the next week or so. Good luck! @Rosemariemegill, that sucks. With such a small program, it does depend a lot on luck as far as the regional representation goes.
