Hey everyone! So I've been admitted into the theatre program at york and general arts at Queen's and I'm not sure which one to go to.
I live in Toronto so going away to Queen's would give me the benefit of living away from home and meeting new people. On the other hand, out of the hundreds of people that auditioned, I was one of the few that got chosen to go to York. I hope to pursue acting as a career in the future and I know for a fact York will give me a strong backbone while at Queen's I won't be able to specialize in Drama until the 2nd year.
I love both campuses so I'm completely torn.
The school with the better acting program or the school away from home. Please help me decide! Thanks :)

Go to York since York has a much more renowned fine arts department than Queen's.

That is true but I just want that experience of living away from home. When it comes down to acting as a career, would it really matter where I go?

York theatre is a lot better than Queen's, as well as there's much more opportunity for networking and auditions based on its location in Toronto. Queen's drama honestly.. is a joke. They majors seems like a high school drama club. Harsh but really people don't really come to Queen's FOR the drama program. Most of the drama majors came to Queen's because they love the school, or they just came to realize they wanted to major in drama over something else once they got here.

While acting is based on talent, where you go does have some reflection on your talent as well as opportunities. Casting agents go to Ryerson/York/NTS looking for actors. Your professors can recommend you and help you out. While you might have the raw talent, you need to hone it. York theatre definitely will provide you better training. York is more performance based, Queen's is more theoretical and the literal study of drama.
