studentawards.com website screen cap

Studentawards Since 1998

By Susan C on Saturday, October 16, 2010

With the launch of our redesigned website, I got to thinking about Studentawards throughout the years and the many "faces" that we've had.  Here is a throwback to let you see what we once were and what we have become.  Laugh with us, these screencaps of our previous websites are funny (and scary).

We start off with January of 1999.  The screencap below is what we were in the very beginning of our lifecycle.  The company launched in 1998, but that particular screen cap was not suitable for human eyes.

The next screencap we have is from November of 2001.  You'll notice the color change to that beautiful flesh colour and green.  Lovely.

Next we take you to 2004, when we switched to the all white background and you can start to see some of the makings of our latest site in this early copy.

In 2006, we started to settle on the format you see today.  It's definitely functional.  We think it falls into the category of websites that are "functional but not pretty." The next screencap is from this week.  This is what we became one week before the launch of our new, functional and gorgeous website.  We were a hub for students to find money for school and advice from each other with a lot of extras thrown on on the side (literally on the sides... see the homepage).

And here is what we have become.  Studentawards is still the hub for finding money for school.  That is what we are down to the very core because students need support.  The new "Dashboard" and comprehensive award list will help students manage the opportunities for money in a more efficient way.  Students can now remind themselves about looming deadlines.  How cool is that?

What we also do is provide information in a way that is easy to navigate.  We've created partnerships with groups like the 3M National Teaching Fellowship, to create informational pieces for students to help them in their academic life, their student life and the life after both of those things.  See "The Stacks."

We also now provide a robust information area for Educators of all levels.  Students, don't be fooled, there is useful stuff for you in "Educator Essentials" as well.  Need help with reference letters or your resume?  Go here for information.

Now there is a new Forum.  The Studentawards Forum was always the place for students to get advice from other students.   Like the rest of our old site, it was functional.  Now we've increased the features in the Forum so the experience should be that much more enjoyable.

Finally, do you want to know more about the Studentawards team?  Our hopes, dreams, likes and dislikes are now in the new About Us section.

Have fun and play safe.  Welcome to the new Studentawards.com.
