Today my application status changed from Pending Review to Decision Release Date: March 1st.

So my guess is that they already made a decision for me but do not want to share until the first day of March.

That is killing me.

So I'm just going to post a thread on this site for everyone accepted to Desautel!

I'm assuming they deferred you to regular decision because your marks weren't high enough for early acceptance or something. Not sure. Good luck tho!

You got accepted by Rotman but not Desautel, I wonder how the system works lol. an early offer from Rotman is obviously more diffcult to obtain than Desautel's.

...do you know what you're talking about?
First of all, they are in different provinces so obviously in province/out of province students are treated differently, so you couldn't compare.
Secondly, I would (hopefully) think that most people would agree that Desautels is harder to get into than Rotman's. There are way more people that I know who got into Rotman but not Desautels than vice versa. I actually know of no people who got into Desautels but not Rotman now that I think about it.
Rotman is a great school and so is Desautels, but Desautels admission standards are ridiculous imo considering many people wouldn't consider it level to Ivey/Queen's.
Also, I understand you didn't get accepted by Rotman but you need to relax. It's barely March, so just wait a couple months, it's not the end of the world.

Rotman is harder to get in i think...desautels just look at your top 6 averages while rotman takes your personal profile into consideration..

Both of you make good points but im leaning towards iliketurtle's side, you cant really compare both together because theyre from difference provinces and acceptances work differently for out of province applications. Im not going to go any further because i dont want to cause a shtstorm haha

McGill requires a 92/93 average. That's quite high and a large number of people simply cannot make that cutoff. So already you're rejecting a huge chunk of the potential applicant pool.

If you are a student with high marks only, it may be easier to get into McGill than Rotman. But chances are Rotman's not going to reject you if you have a 93+ average anyways (in general). For most people that are in the low-80s to low-90s range, they are going to find it easier to get into Rotman, as they can't get into McGill.

Also, I think you're overestimating Rotman. Yes they are competitive, but they send out a huge number of acceptances. My guess is that they have a fairly high number of students rejecting their offers to go elsewhere. There's not a whole wack of people rejected, especially with high averages.

In addition, many students with high averages are students with great extra curriculars and writing ability. Sure you'll get some who are solely focused on school, but there's plenty of others who are elite applicants anywhere.

That's true but I have yet to find anyone who got rejected from Rotman but got into McGill. Generally anyone with a 92/93 is good enough of a writer to get into Rotman imo. Maybe this is just at my school, but most people with 92+ averages are good writers/active students who will write a decent profile for Rotman.

I received an early admission offer from McGill Management, Schulich BBA, Ivey AEO, and Queen's Commerce, but was rejected from UofT Commerce, and received an alternate offer to UTM Commerce. Perhaps I wasn't fob enough...
