Hey, I like the fact that there is no school spirit at U of T. It means we are rational, cool-headed and above pretense.

I'm pretty sure you can find school spirit at UofT in general.

Lol, U of T has no school spirit. There was an article in The Varsity (school newspaper) about how apathetic students are. Usually, no more than 25% of seats are full at school football games, mostly by parents. Students don't vote in school elections, attend events, or anything. A lot of events planned by the school or clubs are cancelled because of lack of respnose. People here truly only care about academics, there's no social life.

This is a sad thread.
Maybe I won't go to U of T then.
/disappointment.

If school spirit is all that matters to you than I think university might not be the place for you...

Education's important, but this is also an important 4 years of your life. This is where you have fun, find yourself, participate, and the probably last four years of your life before you have all the worries of taxes.. houses.. rent etc placed on top of u =S
I think you should find somewhere to enjoy it as well as learn =)
Because really, there's a minor difference between a life science degree at UofT and McMaster, or UBC, and there's a minor difference between a political science degree at UofT, or Ottawa.. etc.
It's probably what you do out of the classroom that'll distinguish you and won't you be more motivated if everyone around you is JUST as active? =)

Thats a very rigid and narrow definition of school spirit. as a 4th year UofT student, I find this thread very disheartening. A lot of people on here are bad-mouthing UofT and they don't even go to UofT. Just because your 'brothers friends cousins sister' said that UofT has no school spirit does not mean its true. How do you define school spirit? attendance numbers at sports games? I challenge you to look beyond this narrow definition and see all that UofT has to offer. If you have ever witnessed UofT frosh parading down the streets of toronto during the first week of September, or attending a halloween pubnight or toga party, there would be nodoubt in your mind that UofT has school spirit. But again, Schools spirit isn't just defined by parties and sports. We have tons of clubs or organizations that appeal to individual student interests. Whats awesome about UofT is that there is so much to become involved in, that you can really tailor your undergrad experience to what you want it to be. If parties and sports constitute school spirit for you -- trust me, that life is available to you. University life is what you make of it, when you read negative comments its important for yo to ask yourself where they are coming from.

Don't let rumors prevent you from attending the top university in Canada :)
