So I have applied to both UTM Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics (Subject of Interest: Computer Science), and UofT St. George Computer Science. I got accepted weeks ago to UTM, but I'm still waiting on St. George. How different are the requirements between campuses? Is St. George alot tougher? Is there a good chance that since I got into the UTM program, I could get into the St. George one? Thanks! :D

When it says that UofT is in the top 20s for Compsci, Im pretty sure its because of the St George Campus. Overall SG Campus is the better one.

What was your average btw? I applied to UTSC and I still havent received an admission.

Hey, I applied to UTSC (and also UTSG) for computer science. I noticed you didn't apply for UTSG but you did apply for UTSC. Is there a reason why you didn't? I applied to UTSG CS after the deadline (Jan13) because UTSG didn't offer co-op, whereas UTSC did. Just wondering if it's the same reason.

I have not received an admission either. I heard U of T takes a loooong time to process, probably that's why.

My admission is between an 87-89, depending on which courses they decided to choose to make up my admission average, my grade 11 average was 87.6, and my average with the four grade 12 courses plus my 2 highest grade 11 courses (i heard alot of universities calculate admission average that way) is an 89.

I guess I'm just wondering if there is a good chance I'll be accepted into UTSG if I got accepted into the same program for UTM.

But you're right, cometmars, they do take a long time >.<

I think UTSG is better in general because of the campus. I've been looking into the computer science courses offered at UTSG and to me they seem to be similar as the courses offered in UTM.

I regret not applying to SG for stupid reasons that I would not like to mention xD. But UTSC is not that bad either because it has the Coop. Id say UTSG is the better campus but if you want Coop go to UTSC, that is, if you dont make it into Waterloo.

I hope you are aware that UTSG has a program called PEY, which is similar to co-op, and some say it's even better.

You are right. At first, I thought PEY was only for Engineering students . Hence, I did not originally apply to UTSG CS. However, after I researched more about CS @ U of T, I learned that UTSG CS is much better than UTSC CS (I found this out after the Jan 13 deadline on OUAC). I started freaking out. Then, I decided to apply late (mid-Feb) to UTSG CS. I got my acknowledgement e-mails within a few days. I submitted my Victoria application a few days ago.

I have decent marks, although well above the low 80s requriement on eInfo. I'm hopeful that I will get my admission (if not Victoria, probably another college).

So, if you have good marks, I would recommend you find out whether it's still too late to apply now. I mean the most you can lose is $44 on OUAC if you don't get accepted. However, if you have high enough marks, you will most likely get accepted even if you apply now. It will probably be to a s****y college. But the colleges don't matter unless you live on Res (and scholarships).

So...find out if it's too late to apply (that is, if you are still interested in going to UTSG CS).

Here's my take on this,
UTM is really a high school/easy and their CS program is very small like UTSC. UTSG has the most CS students and larger community, more variety of courses to choose from in CS upper years, and also the better profs. It is more challenging in the long run!
Plus you're in downtown, which is awesome and the Bahen building which houses Dept. CS is pretty nice!

But, if you get an offer from Loo forget all this and go there for co-op.

Well, PEY stands for Professional Education Year and can range from 12-16 months. It is similar to a co-op, except that it can only be done either after your second or third year, and for the whole duration you will be working with one company only (i think).

I also said that some say PEY is better than Waterloo's co-op because for 12-16 months you get time to work with a company and work on multiple projects. This will help your development and relationship with that company and gives you a higher chance of receiving an offer for a full time job after graduating.

I believe it was 86.6%
Don't worry UTSG offers should be coming soon. Last year almost everyone got admitted to UTSG at the same time (was around the time we came back from march break). I literally got UTSC CS, UTSG CS, and UTSG ECE in the same week.

Was just wondering, did you have to fill out any information forms liks waterloo's AIF? And when were they due?

Of those 3 only UTSC and ECE had supplementary applications, but UTSG CS just looks at your top 6 marks (especially english and calculus)

Actually you have to complete a "profile" if you plan on attending certain colleges at UTSG. I know Victoria, Trinity (and another college, I just can't recall which one) require you to complete it since they are very popular among applicants. Also, they only consider you if you select those three colleges as your first choice.

Other colleges don't require you to complete it. I heard that the colleges only matter if you are staying on residence. Also the scholarship differs from one college to another.

I got accepted a couple days ago for UTSG computer science with a first semester average of 84. So if I can get in with that average most of you guys don't have to worry.

Thanks for all the replies guys, yes I got in to UTSG Computer Science with an average of 87-88 :) I've researched alot about PEY, and I've heard it's alot better because you get to see a project from start to finish, plus a better reference and a better chance of being employed at your placement after you graduate. They'll treat you like a regular full-time employee for the duration of the PEY, and the average salary is $44,000, as I've been told by UTSG faculty. Although you can also get involved with PEY at UTM too. It's mainly for compsci and engineering, and maybe also commerce :)
