Hi, I'm currently a second year at the University of Guelph for biomedical sciences. I did pretty well in my first year, but my second year brought down my marks by 8 percent due to my decision to be more involved on campus. I'm currently at a 70% average and I'm failing two courses at the moment.

My entire life I've been pressured to become either a doctor or a pharmacist and those are the only two careers that I've been driving myself towards. But I know that I'm not smart enough for medical school, and pharmacy school seems pretty tough to get into in Canada...

So I started looking into international schools because a lot of people have been telling me that it's a lot easier to get into medical/pharmacy schools in say, Australia or the Caribbeans. But I'm really worried about whether or not the license I obtain there can be used in Canada, and I'm worried about the costs of living abroad and the time it'll take me to get started with my career if I do get a license.

I'd rather stay in Canada and apply for pharmacy school but I get really disheartened when I hear about people not getting into pharmacy school since it's so competitive. And to be honest, I absolutely hated the chemistry courses I took in my first year.

I think being a doctor is a lot more appealing than being a pharmacist because I could go around the world and help others who are in need of medical attention. That's the kind of job I want -a job that can let me help others.

But I honestly don't know what I'm doing with my life, and my grades are horrible. All I need right now is some advice and guidance on what I can or should do. That would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Im just starting to apply for university, but I would totally recommend nursing. I think it's a great way to help people, which, like you said, is what you want. There are are lots of opportunities out there (cliche, I know) but just keep you chin up :D
And after a nursing degree, if you still feel like pursuing a career as a doctor or pharmacist, I think that you could pursue it :D
