As far as I know they keep sending out offers til late May. Uhm, no. a) I have an 88 average. b) I submitted my SPF 2 days before the deadline. c) Okay I'm a girl, but my program has a lot of girls. University of Waterloo Geological Engineering 2017

As far as I know they keep sending out offers til late May. I find c) a little offensive. Also, there's no way that that's true because the admissions person told me that when your application is reviewed, only your applicant number is shown and not your name or personal info. So there's no way to tell is if someone is a girl or a guy. Accepted to: U of T: Computer Engineering (GOING!!!) I wouldn't be offended by it. affirmative action...minorities are given priority a lot of the time (I dont know if its true with U of T eng). same with employment equity, giving priority to minorities. I think i read somewhere that aboriginal people have lower admission requirements as well for university.

I applied for electrical at OUAC but then switched to mechanical as my first choice on SPF. I got accepted to electrical, but on the admissions package it does not say alternative offer. For those who did not get into their first choice but something else, does it say alternative offer?

From my personal experience: a) One of my friends had a 90 average and applied to Civil Engineering, got in and last week got an alternate offer to Eng Sci. Eng Sci wasn't even one of her alternates... b) Waterloo does this a lot. A lot of the girls I know got into their engineering programs (Nano, Software, Tron) without sending in their AIFs.

Well, maybe you're right.
All I am saying is that based on what I have seen and heard there is a lot of evidence to suggest that affirmative action does take place in some engineering programs such as Eng Sci and Waterloo.

I've been accepted to TrackOne, with an average of 94%. EngSci was my top choice...would there still be a chance of getting an offer from my top program, even though I've been given an alternate offer? Their whole system confuses me. University of Waterloo - Chemical Engineering (admitted, March 22) University of Toronto - Track One (admitted, March 21) McGill University - Chemical Engineering (admitted, March 1) Queen's University - Engineering (admitted, February 9) McMaster University - Engineering I (co-op) (admitted, January 27)

KidA wrote:So I applied to UoFT for Mechanical engineering. My choices were: Mech, Track one, Civil, Chem, any space. However, they only sent me alternative offer to chemical engineering, my last choice. I have an average of 93%. My friend is in a very similar situation, he applied to: EngSci, Track, Mech, Chem, any space. His average was 93 and only got an alt offer to chemical as well. We both have ok EC's. We submitted our SPFs the day before it was due.
What I wanted to know was if anyone else is in a similar situation and if these offers are final? Will we still be possibly admitted to our preferred programs? when you got an alternate offer, did your status say refused admission? University of Toronto: Chemical Engineering --- Rejected...was 1st choice University of Toronto: Computer Science --- Accepted (April 19th) University of Waterloo: Chemical Engineering --- Accepted (April 7th) McGill University: Electrical, Computer & Software Engineering --- Accepted. (Mar 12th) University of Calgary: Engineering--- Accepted. (Mar 13th)

I know my avg wasn't that great (89)but I'm also wondering if there is still a chance i can get admitted to mech. upon UofT receiving my midterms. when you got an alternate offer, what did your status say? Okay I'm super confused now. I'm a girl. Applied to TRACK ONE. Had a 90% average. Adequate EC's. and I'm a Shulich leader nominee (UofT is notified of this) and I'm still not accepted :( Should I just accept one of my alternates? Cuz this is really depressing. But I should note that: 1. I submitted my SPF on Jan 31st 2. I lack work experience 3. IDK if my essay was good enough :/ T__T
