Write a good, concise resume that highlights your strengths. Put down any volunteering and extra-curriculars you're involved with. Even if there is an online application for wherever you're applying, try and meet a manager in person to give them your resume (in addition to submitting the online app). Present yourself well during an interview, be passionate and show interest about whatever you're talking about. Even if you don't have relevant experience to the job, manipulate your volunteer/extra curricular experiences to be relevant and talk about transferable skills. Talk to any friends who have jobs at places that are hiring - connections are always useful. Try and have one or two solid references.

Aha, I'm just sharing my experience in getting my first job. Good luck :)

lol Army is just trolling as usual, no need to worry. For your first job, would it be better to work in a restaurant, retail, or a gym?

So true! LOL

Also, just my two cents, the MOST important thing is not to dish out resumes, but to ask to speak with managers and introduce yourself, give them a flexible timeline during which they can get back to you with regards to whether or not you will get an interview, and make sure you follow up - you're not annoying, you're persistent and dedicated - they love that!

Having friends recommend you is ideal, of course, because directly applying puts you in the general pool with tons of other people.

why don't you try to get an intern ship!
It would be a fun time and you can easily learn while earn.
