I'm finishing up first year now and I know some people got accepted already so if you have questions I'll do my best. I'm telling you now I don't know if you'll get in or what the cutoff is or if you ECs are enough or not...but I can answer questions about the program. I didn't apply to Queens or Ivey and I can't compare them. Also, I don't know what I want to major in yet. Schulich BBA 2015

It's not really that difficult, despite the big hype about it. As long as you do your work from week to week, A+ is very doable. I did no work until the day before the final and got B+. :D PM if you have any questions with regards to school, university, jobs, etc. I am glad to help out and share what I know. There's quizzes every week so you have to keep up. Data only helps you for the first couple of weeks, and it's not the hard part anyways. As long as you do the practice questions there's no way they can trick you. I kept up from week to week and got A+. Schulich BBA 2015

I was wondering if your acceptance into Schulich will get taken away if your average drops? And does that mean that your scholarship will also get taken away?

Offer you got at this time is conditional. You need to maintain your average above 85% to for your offer not to get revoked. Depending on your average, you should have received a renewable scholarship $1000 per year for 85%+, $2000 per year for 90%+, $3000 per year for 95%+. If you average drops from 95% to, 90%-95%, your scholarship would drop to $2000 per year from $3000 per year. Other scholarships could get revoked as well. They take your final average and give you a scholarship based on that. 95+ is $3000, 90-94.9 is $2000, 85-89.9 is $1000 and 80-84.5 is $500 (at least it was last year). Mind you you can't drop below 85 at the end, if you do they take away the acceptance. If you drop from 97 to 90 at the end, you'll get $2000 instead of $3000 Also, the scholarship is only renewable if you get an 8.0 (80/A) average in first year. Schulich BBA 2015

I honestly love it. :) I have been both commuting and living on campus this year and you can have a good time either way. I love the people at this school, the environment and the opportunities I am getting! Question: for BBA, non-business electives: do language courses count as a non-business elective? Also, what sort of courses are we required to take? Like...Western gave me a book that listed out specific courses that we must take for first year so....just wondering...

Like...Western gave me a book that listed out specific courses that we must take for first year so....just wondering... Yes you can take a language course as your elective even in BBA. First year BBA you will have to take: Managing Contemporary Enterprise - read some stuff about managing people and do 2 huge projects, mostly bird. Business History - go back to 1800 and learn 3 industrial revolutions of 4 countries from the business perspectives, alot of reading Statistics - grade 12 data on crack, alot of formulas (given) and quiz every week Microeconomics - this is a 'York' course, enough said. Macroeconomics - same as micro but harder Organizational Behavior - thin book, learn about how people behave (motivation, teamwork, personality) and how it affects their work. A TON of terms and open book exam with 1 case Ethics - pretty interesting, mostly philosophical theories about how to behave, similar to grade 12 philosophy but more business oriented Accounting - they start at the beginning but speed through, I didn't take grade 12 and it was hard for me. I had a bad prof as well. This is only for BBA because iBBA has some differences. These are all 3.0 credits which means one semester, and then you have to choose 6.0 credits of non-business. Language courses are 6.0 credits, so you can do that all year. I chose math 3.0 first semester and then computers 3.0 second semester, it adds up anyways. Schulich BBA 2015

Please help me... :( Thanks!

Judgetown89 wrote:Are there any courses involving calculus in first year at Schulich or any other year? Short answer: no. Long answer: There was no calculus related courses in first year. Stats is similar to data, but nothing with functions/calc. I don't know about other years, finance will touch on math for sure but usually business models use simple math (addition, multiplication, division) and not intense derivatives/integration. The thinking part is difficult, such as figuring out which formula to use. I guess that's why they recommend calc in the first place, for the thinking techniques not the actual concepts. Please help me... :( Thanks! First, I had an average around yours so don't underestimate yourself. Trust me if you got in you deserve to be here. The drop out rate is minimal, even then ppl switch for personal reasons, not bcs they are kicked out. To boost your morale the class avrg is a B+ for most classes, econ is an easy peasy york course and your elective should be an easy A as well. Second, you will soon figure out that you can't be the best at everything. It's true that there are kids with 95+ coming to the BBA/iBBA and they may get better marks than you. That obv happened to me but I remind myself that this program is competitive and just getting in is a life accomplishment lol so its not a crisis to be average in Schulich. Third, I have a friend at UTM and they are competitive as well, i.e. she failed one of her midterms and she got into schulich too. You may be at the top or now but trust me you can't stay there forever, there are lots of kids who peak in university (become geniuses after high school) and business is about connections as well. Schulich does an incredible job with events and networking it was honestly more than I expected. I believe UTM means you have to 'get in' again in third year or something, im not trying to bash it but that seems unnecessary if you already got into this BBA/iBBA. Bottom line: you have a 92+% average, you're already awesome. Don't worry about the 'competitiveness' because it's everywhere. I see Schulich as the better choice because its more recognized, more business oriented and tight knit. You're up for the challenge, it's pretty hard to flunk out of this program. I feel like Schulich is the small circle of distinguished students so you're worried about being lost among all the brilliance lol. I had the same concern but honestly, we've worked so hard for marks to get here, at this point, just take it in that you got into this exclusive program, your GPA will survive Schulich. over Rotman and UTSC co-op management, which would you recommend? Would co-op be a big advantage in the business field right now, or is Rotman just better because of how prestigious it is?
