On a normal week... Well, it depends. Most of the time I'm working on schoolwork and/or hanging out with friends. We eat out a lot because the food is pretty cheap, and there are a few diamond-in-the-rough cheap/tasty/healthy places. The nightlife is really not bad, and I'll go clubbing maybe once a month when I have free time. When I'm not doing that, I feel too deprived from my EDM, so I'll often mix music with friends for lulz. There is at least one good bar in the city, though most are university sleezefests. There should be another with decent beer opening in the Waterloo Town Square any time now. I'm involved with a ton of extracurriculars so I attend a lot of meetings (for academic things), and I plan a lot of events as a club executive. That ends up being a lot of work, but a lot of fun. And of course, then I get to attend/run the events. There's a cute little movie theatre in Uptown, Waterloo Park, a few art galleries and the museum in Kitchener, lots of small shops, the malls for some manufactured fun, the KW Symphony which is a pretty decent orchestra, and more. It's not a big city, so there isn't an endless amount of things to do, but on the other hand, fun things are a lot cheaper. As for "parties", well, you can party with your friends... if you're interested in finding huge, noisy, rambunctious house parties, those exist too, I guess. It sure sounds like there are a lot of keggers. People claim that all the girls at Laurier are more attractive than the Waterloo girls, but truth is, they just wear more makeup, more Uggs, more sweatpants, and waste more time in the morning on their appearances. So meh. That pretty much covers it, I should think.

They're geese! Not man-eating sharks or rabid raccoons or wolverines or something.

Its kind of old, but seeing all those geese just sit there and watch you is kind of intimidating lol Applied to:

When they've got goslings or eggs around, they are ferocious monsters of mighty deathliness and if you get near their young they will unleash a satanic feathery wrath like no other. If they have nothing to protect they're pretty meek, and will waddle away from you with their wings outstretched if you chase them. It's actually funny how differently they can react to your approach.

They often weigh less than 10 pounds and they have no teeth and lack a sharp or hard bill. You can also put a pretty good scare into them. Plus they have that handy handle (pun intended).

I think most geese have sharp serrations along the insides of their beak similar to teeth that can give a nasty little nip which you'd have to treat with disinfectant. Caveman, in between AFM courses, networking, and all that serious professional business stuff, is your answer to the question "What to do in Waterloo?" "Run around and grab geese by their necks and drag them along with you around campus" ? Does that count as an extracurricular when looking for co-op?

That's just their lamellae (used to help them rip up grass and other vegetation). No big deal. You can do far more damage to them, which is why there's no reason to be afraid of them. Give them their space and don't try and bug them while they are nesting and you will have no problems. Should they chase you, it's no big deal though. It only counts as an EC if you are good at it.

Rofl, I love how this went from a legitimate question regarding Waterloo's social life to a debate on the ferocity of the geese which infest the campus, and whether or not chasing them is a suitable EC. :P Communication Studies │ Laurier '16

(according to your sig) Geese are a way of life for the students at UW. They are friend, foe, fun, and food.

Correct! And yes, haha, I have visited the campus. I am well aware of the geese. I just found it amusing. :P Communication Studies │ Laurier '16

Are there lots of parties? Are people there fun and friendly? Hey! At Waterloo you'll have your occasional party or two every week, usually at REV or CLV but most of the time they get busted pretty soon. There's some clubbing events and even some for all ages. People here are very friendly, but of course you'll have your occasional rude person every now and then. Hope that helps :)
