As far as I long, becoming a professor would be a long but worthwhile process. You have get your bachelor's, master's, and then PhD. Also, you do lots of research along the way! If you want to study chemistry, there are a variety of programs from many universities that offer chemistry majors. When you're deciding, make sure to check out what courses you might be taking at the university!
Undergrad is a chance to see what you're interested in; whether it be in a specific field or just in general. People may go to Uni A for their undergrad but then go to Uni B for their master's. Go the university you think will suit you best and/or go to the university you will learn what you want to learn! Both of these universities will have different social/academic universities and I highly recommend you visit them both to get a sense of the place as well, ask lots of questions, questions, and more questions. It's good to be informed!
Making a decision can be based on others' advice and opinions but in the end, you will be the one going to the university!
Good luck and I hope you find the university for you!
