i need a average of 70-74. i know they will look at my top University or Mix level. I applied for BA general science. First semester i didn't do that well. Mid term of first semester i got a 74 Advance Function (University level), 51 Biology(University level), 89 Art(Mix level), 54 Chemistry(University level). Final marks for first term, i got 63 Advance function(University level), 82 Art(Mix level), 67 Biology(University level), 65 Chemistry(University level). For second semester, i decided to take Chemistry again. On my mid terms i got 81 Geomatics(Mix level), 75 Chemistry(University level), English 57 (by the way we only had 5 quizzes and those are the only thing that are going to be worth marks). I've been screwing up my highschool years but i still wanna go to University... What are the chances of me getting accepting into Carleton University?

Your chances are not looking good. You might need to take another semester of high school. You do not want to “screw up” university. You are going to be paying for school and might find yourself unprepared. You might find yourself on academic probation – which is a terrible situation. Not the end of the world. If you have to take another semester – just work hard.

I would have to agree with Xizeta. I would try another semester of high school. You don't want to pay thousands of dollars and go in completely unprepared leading to not so good marks or failed courses. Your English is also pretty low and that's always counted in the average and I know to maintain many offers at Carleton English has to be at least at a 70%. Even then you don't want to JUST make the cut off for the program because those are usually tentative. I would try another semester, don't be too bummed out though, a lot of people do it and it's better to be prepared. Carleton University

I'm assuming you applied for the BA general in Bio?
As I've calcuated right now, your average is right at the 70% mark. That's pretty much the bare minimum. There is a possiblity you might hear from Carleton with an offer, but since your english mark is one of your lowest that's not too favourable.
I'm wondering though, what do you plan on doing with your degree? Many of the courses (first year anyways) for the BA are similar to the BSc (the BSc labs are harder though) but if you plan on applying to any professional schools, they don't look to favourably on the BA courses.
As it's been said before, you might consider doing an extra year. You'd be surprised what an extra year can do to help you collect your thoughts, make a plan, get better grades and maybe earn some extra cash. You're still young, many of the first year students are really immature and could do with an extra sememster or two of growing up time. Trust me, you wouldn't be the first, or last to do it.

The stupid thing is that my english mark is 65 now but it won't be on the mid term for University. I plan on using the BA degree to go to dental school. Can't I just take summer school?

You can deffinatly do summer school...but they won't see the mark unless they've already accepted you. My brother started a BA in bio at Carleton (it was an alternate acceptance) and he heard back around the end of May. His marks weren't anything great about a 74% average I think? You could always try calling Carleton and seeing if there are any forms you can fill out. There might not be, but it's always worth a shot?
Also, if you're planning on going into dentistry be very wise in the courses you take. Some of the chem/bio ones for the BA don't are accepted by professional school. For example they'll probably recommend you take CHEM1005/1006 but it deffinatly isn't accepted by med schools and I have a friend interested in dentistry and she was pretty sure they didn't take it either (even though it'll get you into upper year chem like orgo and phys if you get a B-) Take CHEM1001/1002 instead. As long as you have HS chem you can get in.

I'm sort of in the same boat have you checked your admissions status and what it says? I was also wondering if anyone knows what it means when my status is this?
Application Status: Complete ready for review Decision: Pending: Prereq's Too Low Current Program Bachelor of Science (Honours) Level: Undergraduate Catalog Term: Fall 2012 (September-December) College: Faculty:Science Campus: Main Campus Major: Integrated Sci: Sci & the Arts
Does that mean I didn't get in? I know its because my one prereq mark is really bad but the other two are 80's. Does that mean that they are rejecting me or not... ?

Pending does not mean rejection. It's like they are thinking about it because your pre req mark's are too low. maybe you should call them. If you can guarantee them you will pull up your marks in the finals or take summer classes then likely they will reconsider your application at a later date once they see a higher pre req marks.

Wait so I still might have a chance?! mine says the exact same thing but (Decision: Pending: Prereq's Too Low/Pr&Over)does that mean no?

I applied to honours and general so for one the average is slightly lower. but my marks are...
First semester: History 80%, Art 79% and Advanced Function 58%
Midterms from second semester: English 79%, Biology 84% and Chemistry 83%
The prereq's are the chem, Bio and Functions.
For the Prereq's the required average is 70% between the three of them and mine is 75%.
The overall average required is 75% for honours and 70 for general. (my overall average is 77%)
So i'm sort of confused as to what the Prereq's Too Low means because I know it means my math mark but it technically averages out to above the required.
