Hey my average is an 84 and I applied to Sexual Diversity at UTSG, but I repeated English and ended with an 80%. What are my chances of getting in?

I think U of T looks down upon repeated courses, especially if it's in English when you're applying to a social science/humanities program. Your average should be high enough though because the satellite campuses should be slightly easier to gain entrance into compared to St. George.
Applied to (Fall 2011):

Queen's University - Arts [Admitted] [ACCEPTED OFFER]
University of British Columbia (Vancouver) - Arts [Admitted]
University of British Columbia (Okanagan) - Arts [Admitted]
University of Western Ontario - Social Science (2 programs)
[Admitted]
University of Western Ontario - Media, Information, & Technoculture [Admitted]
Simon Fraser University - Arts (Criminology) [Admitted]
University of Toronto, Victoria College - Social Sciences [Refused] [Alternate Offer - Scarborough]
University of Waterloo - Honours Arts [Admitted]
McMaster University - Social Sciences [Admitted]
McMaster University - Humanities [Admitted]

same, my application for UTSG social sciences has been deferred till late may! ><
My overall average for UofT is 83%, and my english mark is only 73.. I talked to an admission advisor a while back and she told me that anyone wanting to go into social sciences or humanities at the main campus should aim to have at the minimum, an 80% in english 12.

That kills me. Even though we've worked so hard to maintain a decent/high average, above they're expected/requested average admissions, we still get penalize for English.

That sounds like it'd be true. The UTSC website says:

"While the University of Toronto recognizes that there may be valid reasons for a student to repeat a course, in general we urge students do as well as possible on their first attempt. In considering students for admission and scholarships, the University reserves the right to give preference to students whose marks are the result of a single attempt at each course."

But I repeated English (76 the first time, 93 the second time) and I was accepted to Victoria College in March with an overall average of ~84, so who knows?

nice im jealous D: English was never a problem for me until grade 12. I use to get 70's, 80's and 90's effortlessly in English until grade 12. T.T I'm sooo scared.

U Of T St. george Archeology, Studies in Social Sciences

I am repeating a year. As I was unable to complete my grade 12 classes last year because of a family death in where I had to leave the country. I have provided them with a letter. I am really worried. & Keen on getting into U OF T But what are my chances? Everyone I know that has applied has already been accepted. Will they just refuse me? What do you all think Kindly let me know please?

I got in today with a 90 average (didn't retake any courses):

English 4U - 89
Calculus - 91
Biology 4U - 96
Chemistry - 88
SAP (Psych, Sociology, Anthro) - 89
Data - 87

However, it says Trinity college application is still pending although I got accepted to St. Mike's.

If I am forced into St. Mike's I'll probably just go to Queens. What residence did everyone get accepted to? Is it possible to get accepted to multiple residences?

LOL, I got 72 in ENG4U and look where I am now?

You never know really, but my high school's english was pretty hard. The average was a low 50s, the highest mark was an 80 and only 6 people in class were in the 70s range. I also took a standardized english test (IELTS) when I applied to UofT and I aced it, maybe that was the reason why I got the admission?

Anyway, wish you best of luck!
