Hey Ya'll, this is my first post on this forum, with lots more to come in the future. What I've noticed about this forum is that everyone here is generally positive, helpful and supportive, which I personally find very rare on forums. So thank you for this wonderful community.

Anyways I am in a dilemma here. I need to choose between kinesiology in York and U of T. Could anyone currently in these programs give me the skinny on what I should expect from these 2 universities? Just general knowledge of what you have about these 2 programs and your opinions to which you prefer from your perspectives, that would be very helpful. I honestly don't have much plans set out for things like med school or any grad school to be honest, however it is a definite possibility that I might want to, or rather need to go in the distant future. Now I heard that U of T incorporates gym classes of sorts to the curriculum, problem is I'm not very athletic and am scared to make a fool out of myself in front of my potential classmates. A detailed explanation of those would be wonderful. I am passionate about fitness, feeling good, and good health, however things like soccer, basketball, eye-pleasing-aesthetic-coordinated-movement plays have never been my trump cards. I do however really enjoy things like cross-country and track. I am more into the fitness awareness, helping others, reach their goals, and giving general-knowledge-of-nutrition type of guy, so I was wondering if these universities have these sort of programs as well. Also I am more interested in the human anatomy of kinesiology. Sorry if I sound vague I just don't know what I really want. Nice explanations are very welcome, thank you. Just which one should I go to?!

I think you should make your decision about med-school now, because the programs that you are planning to pick for the next year have a very important. Without some of the programs required by med-school you wont be able to do good in MCAT. You said your not very athletic, that's why I think you should think of getting into medical school because you have more of studying that being athletically involved in events such as soccer. But, let me tell you something, do what interests you the most, don't be afraid of anything. believe in yourself and you will be able to do anything.

One thing I have to say is, dont choose your university just because you dont want to "make a fool of yourself". After all, this is about YOUR future, who cares what others think...But on a serious note, I recommend that you compare the courses of the two programs. I am EXACTLY in the same predicament as you are. I got into BA YORK Kinesiology, and im waiting for UofT Kine. If I get accepted to UofT, I'm going there for sure. The way I came to my conclusion is, I compared the courses for both the programs which you have to take the first year. The courses at UofT KIN, seemed much more interesting; in my opinion.

Yes, because rushing into med school is the best thing you can do if you're unfit.
Listen, you've got first year to figure out what you really want to do. Don't listen to others telling you what you should or should not do. Figure out whether med school is really what you want to do. Theres many other options out there branching out of kin, its not just med school. You have physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, personal training, physical education, nutrition, research, etc...

Now the difference between UT and York:

York's program and school is just easier overall --> higher GPA. So if you want to take the easier way out, then York is your option. York is also a bigger program, so its not as tight knit and its harder to talk to profs in first couple years.

More about Pkins: http://www.premed101.com....php?t=42504&page=4

Both schools require Pkins.
UT is more difficult and competitive so you may have more trouble getting into graduate schools.

Also do keep in mind that UT offers only BPHE or BKIN, whereas York offers the traditional BA and BSc.
UT also offers human cadavers in first year for their anatomy course, whereas York only offers animals ( I believe it was cats) in second year.
