Looking to become a teacher.. So confused

I'm about to start my second year at Wilfrid Laurier. I'm majoring in French, Honors BA, and I'm hoping to teach french upon finishing my degree, and then of course going to teacher's college. I'm really confused with the whole teachables thing though. Since french will be my major, is that considered my main teachable/focus subject? and then in order to teach grade 7-10 I need another teachable, and to get that I have to take 4 courses towards that? Also, what exactly are some of the teachables? I know English for sure, and although it's not my first choice, that's probably the best option. I'm sorry if all of this is as confusing to you as the whole thing is to me. I'm just looking for some help from people that are in my same situation. Thanks.

Your major (French) will definitely count as one of your teachable subjects. You only need another one if you want to teach in the senior division (meaning grades 11 and 12). In that case, you'll need a subject that you have the equivalent of 3.0 full year courses in. For just junior/intermediate division, your french teachable will be just fine. I think it's a great choice as I also want to be a teacher of maths. After B.tech I thought to change my line and join college as maths professor because I love teaching and maths stuff, if you fill same than you must go for french teaching. recognizing equivalent fractions
